you think he would have been the best? joe bumped around 180's, eventually 190's and in the low 200's. would he have been too small for the new heavyweight crop or would his skill set and ko power keep him ahead of the pack?

Compared to today's stanards, he's a small HW. If we take into consideration, today's training techniques and supplements, he'd probably be a good 10-20 lbs. heavier. In today's era of unbelievably garbage HW's, I could probably see him being in the top 5. He has a puncher's chance against everyone, but how can we realistically translate his punching power to today's era? The size would definitely be an issue, but IF his punching power could translate, he beats most HW's, not named the Klitschkos.

I'm not 100% sure that he would beat the Klitschkos. But he would kick the crap out of everyone else, and I don't think that's debatable.

Wouldn't give him an edge over either brother, Haye, Price and Fury would be too big IMO
But just to clarify things here. In terms of "era's" Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight of all time. In terms of everybody fighting at eachother in their primes I would have to go with Tyson or Lennox in my opinion

I think he would def struggle and lose to bigger fighters...not sure how much punishment he could take just based on size.
He would often bend off to his right side, Wlad jab would keep him over there a lot...I can picture Wlad punching down on him all night. temple shots, back of the head, neck..it would get ugly i think. he prob hit the deck multiple times before he can't get up or they wave it off.
Others who have fast footwork like Haye I think he would also struggle with, but that would be a great fight. I definitely think he could go to war with Povetkin as well, the always raw (and smaller) Marco Huck is good evidence for that. I think he could do some damage against Povetkin and possibly TKO, IDK if that would make him top 5 but I doubt his run would last long
