      • Best part about this is Manny can't retaliate with a book of his own because his fans can't read.

[QUOTE=pvj;12432374]First off, I think Manny is a great fighter, but his marketing value was even greater. He single handedly took a foreign fanbase and made them main stream. Because of that, he got the benefit of some close calls (minus the Bradley debacle) and as a result will probably be a little overrated when all said and done. As for the names you mentioned:

Oscar was 35 and lost 4 of his last 7 fights (including one to Manny)
Shane was 40 and didn't manage to win 1 of his last fights (including one to Manny)
Clottey is a B fighter, not quite a resume enhancer
Hatton was one of the greatest KO's I'd ever seen, but a B+ fighter at best.
Marg went 1-3 once he wasn't allowed to cheat (including a loss to Manny)
Cotto was a good win and very legitimate, close enough in age, although coming off a horrific loss in which part of his heart was taken from a guy who probably cheated.

Again, Manny has been a great fighter, but the list speaks more to the greatness of Bob Arum (cringe when I say that) and his ability to promote and make a superstar with superb timing and fighter selection.

                  -------

Oh, this is what im really talking about how people perceive things regardless of whatever, ALIBI AND EXCUSES............. WHAT A POOR IDEA.

                  • Yeah I agree, a book is the last thing a Pac fan would be concerned with. JMM should be mad and still pissed off, he was robbed back to back in the biggest fights of his career. It is sickening. I could even live with the 2nd fight going to Manny but the 3rd was an absolute travesty. JMM won 8 rounds at the very minimum in that fight 100%. Karma got Manny's ass right back to in the Bradley fight that's why I have no remorse for Pac. There is no point to Pac/JMM 4 now that Las Vegas/MGM has already been picked for Manny's fight. JMM will just get robbed yet again.

                    • He'll probably also include how he fought Freddie Norwood in front of a rabid Marquez crowd and easily won but lost a definite unanimous decision-even with Joe Cortez' help.

One thing, Marquez showed me in this fight, how easy it is to "accidentally" butt an opponent by stepping in just a bit too much when throwing a right hand, so that his head lands first. A good fight.

Norwood was a brilliant, extremely fast boxer, who was about 40-0 before Gainer hit him in the kneecaps whilst the ref was holding him tight, who then counted him out- a travesty. A really dirty fight.

The few fights he lost were basically at the end of his career. He's all forgotten about today.
