Comments Thread For: Alfredo Angulo's Return Planned For The End of 2012

Multiple sources in the Mexican press are reporting that junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo (20-2, 17KOs) is going to return before the end of the year. Angulo spent the last seven months in an immigration detention center in El Centro, California. He was released on Tuesday, according to his lawyer Lucy Haro.

So two questions: Why did Angulo have to be put in immigrant detention in the first place, and second, why during all this time he wasn't allowed in the US did he not take stay busy fights to stay active?

I believe that when someone overstays their US Visa and want to be physically held on the US side of the border, they are put into that detention center while you await hearings. If he had chosen to go back to Mexico and try to fight immigration issues, he might have been free and able to take tune-ups. I guess they might have felt his chances to be better if he stay on this side, but I don't know for the technicalities of those laws.

Watch out, might be the other way around with Canelo's crappy D.

I don't care if Angulo or Kirkland have 50 losses.

I will watch either one fight.

Over Floyd or Manny. Any day.

                    Good luck to them both.
