You have to respect other peoples opinions. Einstein was a genius-fact.

Babe didn't play against colored baseball players in the majors. Not his fault. Black folk mightve read about the Babe, and saw footage, but they don't relate to him because he played in a segregated era.

When your country is predominately black and white, and only white players are playing...no offense, but why would black folk acknowledge the Babe? No offense. Sure Babes stats speak for themselves, but you have to understand why baseball players not black are respected and loved by black folk who played when blacks were finally allowed.

Blacks knew about the Babe, and many thought that they could play with and as good as the Babe, and they thought that they were better than the Babe.

Dempsey and Tunney never fought black fighters.

There were white fighters fighting AND beating black fighters before those two started fighting. I acknowledge those fighters.
Much of what you say is true. But we're getting off-topic. The TS essentially implies that Leonard might be considered the GOAT because he never (or few ever) saw Robinson fight. That's illogical thinking. I agree that the old-timers weren't necessarily better than the younger athletes. However, it's nonsensical to deny the past as if it never happened. It's also foolish to wave-off the opinions of people who are steeped in knowledge about the sport. And while everyone is entitled to an opinion, not every opinion is equally defensible.

He retired at 25 years of age and despite the later win over Hagler, never truly regained his form.

Ray Robinson on the other hand campaigned for 25 years with only 2½ years of inactivity in between, including 200 professional fights against the very best from lightweight up to even light heavyweight. You have to respect that.

Leonard can be seen as the fighter with the best potential, but boxing in the end, as far as legacy is concerned, is about building the greatest record and proving your ability over and over to the point where you accomplishments cannot be questioned. While Leonard did prove his ability against the very best, his dominance just didn't last as long as Robinson's.

I quoted you, but I was actually talking to another poster. I agree with you. I ill-subliminally dissed another poster for his ****ty, shoddy outlook on the Babe TOURING with black baseball players. That's like saying something prejudice, and then saying, well Im not a bigot. I have black, white, (any race)...friends. Tooooo late, lmao!
