Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, who flew into a flooded Metro Manila to discuss plans for Manny Pacquiao’s Nov. 10 fight, scheduled at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, said a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. will take place next year.

“I want to explore with Manny the feasibility of doing a Mayweather fight sometime next year. I have to get his idea on schedules and when he is going to have to start campaigning for office,” Arum told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard. [Click Here To Read More]

Don't have the energy to do it, but would be funny to go find all the articles where Arum says, let's do it "later this year" or "next year".

        It aint happening, period.

For some reason I am optimistic that the fight will happen in 2013.

I'm actually optimistic that it happens in 2013. Call me crazy, and I may be, but I think there's something to the TMT/50 Cent part of this that will get it done.

Does anyone even believe anything Arum says anymore? For the past two years he's thrown out Mayweather as possibility after whatever fight he is currently working on for Pac as a way of getting extra publicity. Unfortunately this fight has almost no chance of being made unless Arum has finally decided he's ready to move on to Chavez Jr as his new cash cow.

More importantly, who really cares for this fight anymore?

There's nothing Arum could say that will convince me that this fight is gonna happen, i'm already past caring about it. I'm already invested in other fights like Donaire/Nishioka, Canelo/anybody good at 154, Chavez/Martinez to really give a **** about Pac/Mayweather. All parties involved need to stop using this as a way to sell their current fights and move the **** on.
