Get a new trainer, one who will teach him how to work the jab to create space, set up punches, disrupt timing etc. A trainer who will teach him how to tie up on the inside and a trainer who will teach him how to pick his shots and fight off the back foot instead of planting his feet to throw combinations.
Spend a year and a half fighting contenders in order in order to gain confidence and adjust style.
IMO he should get Ronnie Shields on as his trainer and work from the ground up..Meaning start over fighting top 15 or 20 guys at his weight class and understand what his fighting style is..This is also to get a real connection with his new trainer...
