Nobody gives a **** about OLYMPIC boxing!!

Amateur Olympic boxing is irrelevant and doesn't translate to professional boxing.

Yes but it's a great marketing tool for young boxers. It helps them get more exposure and make a lot of money early.

I wonder how many guys on this forum have ever been especially successful at anything. The win of an Olympic medal, let alone gold, is the achievement of a lifetime. Even in its present state, Olympic boxing is still incredibly competitive. Just being selected to the games is impressive all by itself.

Mike Tyson didn't make it. He was a monster as an amateur, knocking people out even more easily than he did as a pro. If you KO other fighters at will, you ought to make the Olympic squad, no? Apparently, "Iron" Mike couldn't take out Olympic caliber fighters inside three rounds.

Guys like Vasyl Lomachenko make me care a whole lot about Olympic boxing. He'll be a professional star some day soon. Ironically enough, his style is reminiscent of Mike Tyson. I’m going to watch Vasyl evolve from Olympic champion to professional world champion. It’s gonna happen…and it’ll be a pleasure to watch it unfold.
