Yes, but that isn't the question. I think everyone realizes that other nations don't put their best into boxing but Tunney seems to think that AMERICA still puts their very best big athletes in boxing, which obviously is not the case. You would have to have a brain of mush to think that the decline of America heavyweight talent isn't due to NFL and NBA becoming more popular.

    • I guarantee that if the Klitschkos had been born and raised in America, they would not be professional boxers, especially Wlad. They would have been pushed into some other sport, because no kid their size with their talent doesn't end up trying either football or basketball.

basketball really started to pick up steam during the time of michael jordan. football's popularity has only grown to it's current magnitude in the last 10 years, with a good deal of that having to do with HD televisions and big screens, which help immensely in following a football game.

i am sorry. you know boxing, and i like you, but you are wrong.
Your argument is that the talent pool has shrunk due to potential HW's playing these sports yet the amount of pro players in both sports is near identical as 40 years ago. When added to the idea that the same could be said for other Nations sports stealing their potential HW's i just don't see any validity in the claim.

lol your HD TV comment is just..........

So America has no HW's because HD TV has made your viewing experience as a NFL fan more enjoyable in the last 10 years...

wlad would have a butter smooth jump shot, and vitali would be energy off of the bench of a championship level team

america has no great HW because they are playing those sports. the number of guys in those leagues doesnt mean anything. it's about the talent pool and the direction they take.

there are tens of thousands of top flight athletes who are huge that play collegiate basketball and football and never make it professionally, and they're almost all more talented than chris friggin arreola and tony thompson.

you arent going to recognize it, and that's fine.

              i'll ask this :

do you really think that the current crop of american HW are the best we have to offer?

i dont live in america so im not gonna properly get into this debate as I'm not qualified, but werent Jordan and Tyson around at the same time? Ive a hard time believing there werent just as many kids wanting to be Tyson as there was wanting to be Jordan.

                  • Tyson was pretty big, not close to the fame of Jordan though. But I think most kids decided it was just a better idea to pass a ball around than to get their faces beat in for a living.

when did europe and cuba rule the division? this is the most important aspect of the argument.

we are going in circles here.

america ruled the division when our best HW athletes boxed. fact, not opinion.
they dont box anymore. fact, not opinion.

and now we dont rule the division.

the best HW athletes from america are playing football and basketball

                      until recently, they were not.

these are all facts. they aren't opinions.

your refusal to recognize them is not something on which i cannot waste any more time.
