  • That's another thing I forgot to add too I mentioned in this argument before... the best talent in the States regardless of ethnicity plays in the National Football League. I know we got NBA heads here but I'll take a large RB, offensive player or pedestrian Linebacker as a prospect before I'd go for an NBA cat. A full contact sport where your head and body is getting dinged constantly from full speed hits would be a decent scouting ground for future HW boxers.

And I love how it doesn't matter now if talent IS actually pulled away into other sports by financial incentives.. for the longest time the argument on the other side was show me the proof you're losing quality HW's to other sports...

and I up a fresh 2x Super Bowl winning RB with a HW boxing pedigree.. that says himself the financial opportunity the pro football route offered was much more lucrative (AGAIN, that includes an all expense paid top flight education - that these dudes' own mama's would slap them if they didn't take it) and that wouldn't affect any SANE man's mind on why boxing would become dirt in a situation where you have options? - even outside of sport getting a FULL RIDE education?

Wake up if you think fighters like the Klits are fighting the best HW's America has to offer. We have a SEA of monsters with athletic ability (key phrase, not saying they all can fight) exceeding Mike Tyson, running around the gridiron alone.

    • I'm still waiting for an answer.

Are all the American potential medal winners boxers (like Michael Carbajal, Ricardo Williams, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar de la Hoya, Terrance Cauthen, Kenneth Gould, Romallis Ellis, Clarence Vinson, and Kennedy McKinney were in the past) in the NFL and NBA?

Ireland's John Joe Nevin (bantamweight), Michael Conlan (flyweight) and Paddy Barnes (light flyweight) will win medals.

Are the Americans who might have won in their weight divisions in the NBA or NFL?

Are potential light flyweight Olympic medal winners like Michael Carbajal are in the NBA and NFL?

Or are there talented boxers from other countries?

Why not be good sports and give boxers in other countries the respect they've earned, instead of being sore losers and whining & making excuses?

nobody is saying that other countries do not produce talented boxers. you're clearly refusing to recognize the concessions in our argument.

and nobody is saying that the NFL and NBA rob the divisions from flyweight to MW of talent. just watch the sports and you'll understand that.

they are almost exclusively HW. the smaller NBA and NFL guys might make for LHW and CW with the proper nutrition, but for the most part they are all HW. they're well over six feet tall with long reaches and 200 + lb bodies. they're also supremely gifted athletes. to think that they're not better talent than the dismal US HW today is laughable, and a sign of bias.

again, you guys dont seem to understand just how big these guys are..

the average player in the NBA is listed at 6'9". height is coveted in the NBA, so the numbers are a bit off. the average NBA player is right around the size of the klitschko brothers, and there are hundreds of guys in the league who are bigger than they are.

All this shit is just sour fucking g****s from us because we're not the dominant dudes in boxing anymore. Specially the so called prestigious HW division that has been afro american dominant for many years.
no what im saying is becuase younger kids want to play in the nba or nfl they start training at a young age to do that they dont go to a boxing gym.

and if you want to use the afro american theory just look at baseball from the 70's-90's their where a lot of black americans playing baseball but that number is decline because they are going into football and basketball jsut like the rest of america.

More young americans want to sports like basketball and football then become a boxer.

The lower divisions are the same as they have always been, full of great boxers from a variety of countries. Bringing them up to try and make your argument is ridiculous.

Again you try to change the argument, when the entire argument being made is that the NBA and NFL are where potential American HEAVYWEIGHTS, let me repeat that again HEAVYWEIGHTS, are going instead.

And again, if you are really deluding yourself that of the hundreds of tremendous athletes in those sports, most of which are athletic freaks weighing over 200 pounds, there are no potential boxers that would be 10x times better than the crappy fighters America is producing now at heavyweight, then you really are naive and/or biased.

Same argument could be made for other Nations. Oceania and Europe would have more HW's if they weren't playing Rugby or Hockey or Kickboxing or Combat Sambo or Greco Roman Wrestling etc.. The NFL only has 1700 players and the NBA 450. US isn't the only country with other sports Tesla.

but it is the only other country that dominated the HW division before the NFL and NBA became popular.

                and that's the argument.

Gronk is a f***ing beast. That guy could have played any sport and been one of the best. Seriously, he's one of the most incredibly impressive athletes I've ever seen in my life.

Normally I try to defend boxing as a completely different sport, but yes, that guy is one of the exceptions. Heavyweights should be thankful the division is weak and they don't have to fight against a guy like this in the ring. Scary talent.
