All this shit is just sour fucking g****s from us because we're not the dominant dudes in boxing anymore. Specially the so called prestigious HW division that has been afro american dominant for many years.

It is not instant, you clearly have no clue how things work.
You could make way more money in boxing before those sports blew up so the risks were worth it, once better opportunities arose to make close to as much there was little reason to take up boxing. Hell you can still make more in boxing but the risk associated make it an unwise decision for any high end athlete to go that route, more dudes really make it in the NBA or NFL in a single year than dudes who really make it in 2 decades in boxing.
And by Byrd do you mean Sue Byrd because it is Larry Bird~

Pretending that the rise of the NBA and NFL and the decline of heavyweight boxing in the United States happening at the exact same time is nothing more than a coincidence is really naive.
The people arguing that it is nothing more than a coincidence are now asking about lower weight divisions to try and change the subject. Other countries have always had great fighters in the lower weight divisions, what is happening in those divisions now is no different than throughout the history of the sport. The decline of American boxing is almost solely in the heavyweight division.
Guess what division basketball and American football players would be in if they boxed?Last edited by bojangles1987; 08-08-2012, 03:55 PM.

i think its very true that the NBA and NFL currently attract the highest caliber athletes in the states...and thats because of money..but to point to it as the SOLE reason for the decline of the American Heavyweight is a stretch...

People go where the easy money is, also you gotta inspire people to go into boxing
Lennox Lewis did wonders for British HW's, all the HW guys say he is their idol, they all want to replicate what he did..hell even Wlad says Lennox is his idol
Which recent boxers do the Americans have? the last great one they had was Hollyfield and look at the state of him, thats a turn off right there....
On the flip side you see american boxers coming through in other weight classes, Floyd has alot to do with this, his effect is having a influence on the new generation
The Americans need a boxer like Tyson, someone who can set the HW division to alight,
There is talent out there i'm sure of it, but someone has to entice these guys to pick boxing over nba/nfl or being a drug dealing gangstaLast edited by FrankieBruno; 08-08-2012, 04:03 PM.
