Most Americans lost interest in boxing. Most athletes go into other sports, period. Why is so important to convince people otherwise. Unless it's America you are actually down on.

It has no bearing on the lower divisions.
And Americans still do very well in those division, a lot better than they do in the higher. There is no doubt that the best athletes in America do not compete at boxing any longer. You can this and that about other nations and their best not competing at boxing, and you would be right but the same can now be said about America too. If you think these are Americas best athletes, you need to get your head checked right away.

Americas doing fine at boxing anyways. It is still the strongest nation in the sport.

You can't disband the baseball league and expect to get soccer world cup champions. Same thing goes with boxing.
You also need years of training and to almost grow up in gloves to succeed. Of course a NBA players isn't going to succeed at boxing because he grew up playing basketball but had he been pushed into boxing when he was a boy, he would have a good chance of doing well. It isn't an excuse, it's reality. Some people are pretty dense on this website.

Because there weren't any athletes like there are now during America's golden age of boxing. Much like with every sport besides boxing, athletes have gotten a lot bigger and more athletic since then.

Guys like Dwyane Wade are normal in the NBA now. 40 years ago he would have been the best athlete in the sport.

Other sports are taking naturally coordinated athletes. That doesn't necessarily make them fighters. Understand?
I understand what you are saying and it makes since but that doesn't change the point that a lot of American athletes that would have or could have been good or even great boxers are playing in the NFL and NBA. I totally agree with you that a lot of athletes don't have the desire to get punched in the face and would rather dunk or score a touchdown but this thread was started with a different agenda. It was another anti American thread designed to down America and make it seem like American athletes are overrated. I'm not saying that's what you are doing but that's what the thread was for. As the NBA and gained popularity boxing in America has suffered because of it. To say other countries can say the same is not really true. Other countries don't have the NBA, NFL, and MLB where athletes make tons of money to not get punched in the face. Soccer players make tons of money overseas but I don't really see many soccer player being a successful boxers.

Based on all the terrible decisions I've seen this year, and that happen every Olympics, that isn't something to be that proud of. Americans sucking at amateur boxing just proves the point many have been making anyway.

I don't buy it although I agree naturally athletes today are of a higher standard and that standard will only get better with every generation I don't think that in the space of just 20+ years the gap between generations is that significant.

Yep, and no one gives two ****s. If amateur pedigree meant something then America would be in the toilet in the pro ranks, yet they still have the most champions and majority of the elite fighters. Mexico also struggled and I don't think anyone would argue that they aren't the second biggest force in the sport.

You're a weird dude, Tunney. Spending your whole life behind a computer, trying to tip toe the line about bashing America and Americans. You're a loser, dude. No ones ever like you on this site and I'm pretty sure no one will ever either. Please get a life and go get some pu$$y because you need it, bro.
