Cotto has problems with fighters with good stamina, and lately he's been fighting taking advantage of his footwork, however Martinez has even more mobility than Cotto.

So Martinez has more power, stamina and better footwork, while Cotto has ... well I don't even see him landing body punches against Martinez.

Fire also didnt mention how vulnerable Cotto has been to left hand counters from the southpaw stance. Judah hurt him...Pacquiao hurt him worse...Martinez P Wills him. Martinez is a nightmare for Cotto. A "slick" ish southpaw with undying stamina, movement, power, AND throws a lot? AND might be a tad bigger? Good luck.

people are quick to jump the gun. look at martinez record. who has he beat? he hasnt beaten anybody who is as technically good as cotto. he also likes to keep his hands somewhere near the equator.

I too think Cotto outworks and beats Martinez.

Martinez keeps his hands low, his stamina is just as suspect as Cottos. Cotto can come in with his jab and work that body. Martinez does not fight in a style that has bothered Cotto. I think Martinez is a great fighter, but he's a tad bit overrated. Plus he's on the wrong side of 30. He's fundamentally flawed, while Cotto is fundamentally more superior.

But its moot anyways. JCC Jr will beat Martinez next month. And no, I do not think Cotto can beat JCC Jr

martinez would slowley pummel cotto into retirement...cotto would be stopped late after a brave performance but sergio would beat him so bad, catching him with bomb after bomb, cotto would be beat so bad he would probably retire ...and that's unbiased, that is simply how it would go down

I love Martinez but he tends to get overrated on here. I think he beats Jr and Cotto at 160. 154 lbs Cotto takes him to school.

If cotto boxed Martinez his jab would be his most effective weapon considering Martinez slouches a lot and keeps his hands down. Cotto would have to follow through with a good two-three combo....something he has not been doing lately
