He looked good tonight. I love how his jab is developing. Still has to break that habit of jumping straight back with his chin in the air but when you're his height you can get away with things most others can't.

Tonight it's really all about testing the hand. I don't think this fight really does anything for him as far as rankings go but more so to see how his injury holds up in a live situation. Looking forward to a fun night of boxing on network tv.

I think Washington is pretty much tailor made of Wilder since he is not aggressive and likes to passively hang out on the outside. That puts him right in Wilder's wheelhouse and Wilder is a much more dangerous man, Washington has some size so Wilder could get caught coming in or going out but I doubt Washington will be able to do much with that. I think Washington has some positive qualities but it is just he suits Wilder very much and should flatter him greatly.

Then hopefully on to bigger and better things.

Keep in mind people thought he could lose at any time five years ago and was a total scrub who could never get anywhere near the top of the division.

Yeah, he fought literally one opponent worth mentioning, won the WBC belt and then went back to fighting subpar opposition he somehow struggles with anyway.

And in top of that we are all well aware of his flaws. These guys get the impression that we've crowned him as the next great which is 100% false.

This has been fun tracking a guy out of the olympics with only 30 amateur fights throughout his pro career. We've seen so many new dimensions added to his game over the past 5 years. Since he entered the pro game raw, inexperienced and undeveloped, you can really track the progress on a fight by fight basis.

Yea but people thought he would struggle and get beat by "subpar" fringe guys let alone anyone decent five years ago. Par means average, I would say he beat average guys not below average because the guys he beat beat a lower level of guys so they are clearly not the worst level of opposition.

Also struggle is a pretty strong word also considering he beat the **** out of most of the guys, and wasn't about to lose any of the fights.

This thread was made (and I should know because I made it) was because like no one took Wilder seriously at all at the time. People take him real seriously now that is why he is getting talked about in all kinds of threads which has been a fun progression seeing people be so wrong about him.

That is the thing I never expected Wilder to be THE man, I thought he had talent and you never know how that plays out but I thought he could be pretty good and not a lot of people were saying that when I made this thread.

It has been a fun ride, he obviously has some issues and he is not some invincible flawless fighter. However, he has his strength and the strengths he does have tend to cover up his weaknesses. Also like you said when you look at his early fights and then fights later on you see how much hard work the guy put in and took his career very seriously. To me I find that progression worthy of respect and it has been funny to watch those who have been wrong about him the whole time just continue to double down again and again. Eventually they will probably be right and will laugh and say ha we were right all along but the fact that he will even get that sort of response when he goes down will show how far he actually got.
