Wilder fought a guy whose career fell apart at the seams, lost his prior 5 of 7 and took this fight on 10 days notice.

he looks so much better than he had been looking.

there's a ton of talent. even as recently as a year or so ago he was looking like he hardly knew how to fight.

6'7" and 84 inches of reach are not taught in the gym.

as much as this will rub people the wrong way, i still don't want to see him rushed. he should stick with the manswell types. not all of them are going to get starched in one round. he needs to be in there with guys who can go rounds with him. they're out there. i still think that if he steps up to the top 10 in his next fight he'll lose badly.

he needs to be in there with a guy who can take him rounds and hit him with punches. manswell was supposed to be that guy. credit to wilder for not allowing him out of the first.

I agree, and I don't think he should be rushed either and if he fights anyone real tough soon he will likely lose. I liked how he started this fight working the jab, then when he put a right hand behind it he also threw a hook and Manswell went away~ Wilder got a little out of sort chasing him down but Manswell was hurt I would like to see him get a bit more thoughtful with his finishing but if someone can hit like Wilder appears to be able to that might not matter all that much.

There is no need to rush him either because he is 26 and his best attribute are ones that will be with him for the long haul.

I think he is hard to match though because with his power, most guys will just go away and the guys that can take it are probably pretty good fighters he shouldn't be fighting yet.

I'm not saying Wilder should step up against top 10 opposition right now but he needs to stop fighting cans. Fight a solid top 20/25 heavyweight, a tough veteran, a former champ or another prospect with few or zero losses. Somebody half decent.
