Brilliant on Chad's part. He loses he's still LHW champ and fight him at 175 in the rematch.

The whole challenge thing whatever yer course he'll say that, anyone would going to a guys weight precisely. And if he does then win it gives him some extra bragging rights.

It's not negotiations, well of course it friggin is you idiot, he just chose not to quarrel and his early bargain may have been, ok I'll come to your weight entirely. That is uncommon and should have been used for stronger leverage for other terms, at least. This is common in boxing, get over it.

All I'm saying is I think in fairness to Chad given he's a champ whose just beaten an ATG, he's given far too much respect and too many of the terms away to Andre. Even if you don't want to settle at 170 which is still most of the weight change on your side, don't then also fight at Andre's home town.

I'm taking it your betting on Chad. If so I'll gladly bet with you.

Oh, and by the way, what the fuck happened to Chad not being willing to go to 168 years ago for a champ at the weight, in Kessler? Oh, he wants to go to the champs weight, but can't go down to 168 then, and doesn't want to do catch weights. Not about the money or whatever else. Blah blah.
Why would he go down to 168 for Mikkel Kessler? Especially at that time? Why? Because Kessler says so?

I remember Scully saying something like "That's how a true professional does it. Request the fight at 168, and sign the fight at 168."

People are tripping about what "Ward is making Dawson do", completely disregarding that it was Dawson who requested it, and then they signed the fight very soon after.

It seems there was very little to "negotiate", because they requested, with the intention of agreeing to what they requested.

It's pretty clear that people are just looking for a way to discredit Ward, should he win.

            you are one slowwww dude.

nobody has ever fought for a title over the weight limit. this is not permissable. it doesn't happen.

at catchweights under the limit, titles have been staked.

if ward and chad were to fight at 170, the only title eligible to be staked would be chad's.

Kessler had only lost once at that stage and was being floated around to fight a few guys. I accept Kessler wasn't the name Ward is today but that isn't what Chad has cited as his reasoning, only that he supports facing champs and wants to do that a 168, period.

Perhaps Bat can clarify further on the Kessler thing but to completely not entertain fighting at 168 against Kessler when he would've got the better money and terms than against Andre, at least puts a dent in Chad's argument outlined in this vid. He also I'm fairly sure said he couldn't get down to 168. So was that a blatant lie?

I like both guys I do, if anything I prefer Ward slightly but I'm just saying Andre seems to get some fairly cushty deals, i.e. fighting at home a lot as-well.

Kessler was in no position to request, demand or ask for anything of the sort. At the time, Kessler was rated lower than Dawson (still is), just like Dawson is rated lower than Ward.

Seems he hasn't negotiated the best deal for someone whom has just beaten an ATG in Hopkins.

If he loses this which I think he does most likely by decision, he be wishing he bargained terms differently I reckon.
Should've been at a catchweight but no belts on the line. Also, win or lose Dawson should do a rematch at 175. Im gonna be real amazed if Dawson can make 168 and stay healthy. I don't doubt he can make 168 but can he stay healthy while doing so is the question.

what's the purse split on this one?

i'd bet you that dawson could accept the lesser share here and still make more than he would've made fighting kessler back then. how is dawson-kessler @168 a huge money fight for dawson even before the super six?

and, as imdazed points out, dawson had no reason to make concessions to kessler, who was only assumed to be the best at 168 by default after calzaghe's exit from the game. it's not as if kessler was some p4p guy with whom a superfight (or even a pseudo-superfight such as dawson-ward) could be made.
