Think this would be a good domestic fight in the next 2 years?
Groves vs Froch soon?

it would be fun
groves was in with a far less than world class product last night, but he was very impressive
what a series of blows he landed for that knockout!
brutal
the combination that got him going was shades of haye / chisora -
I wasn't impressed with Groves. I thought he struggled with a poor opponent.
The finish was very good though.Comment

perhaps i should qualify further my stance on groves.
he's a european level talent and i've said that from the begginning. he always appeared to me to be a modest offensive fighter at best, and he showed that he was not that on saturday. 168 is a good sized man's division. you should really be able to do some damage to somebody of your own size if you're that big. he finally looked to be a potent 168 pounder.
his boxing looks to be improving in each fight. he showed good power, took some big punches (against a guy who does not even hit a world class product,) and boxed well over the duration of a long and hard fight. i'm not calling him even a remotely skilled boxer in the purest sense, but he's working on the subleties of his game
he had a brutal cut that was really bleeding, and he fought through it like a vet.
he looked a hell of a lot better than he looked against degale. he had a lot more snap in his shots and he looked a lot sharper. some of that should be credited to degale, who presents a moving target and has decent offense.
talent wise?
let be real, he's never going to be andre dirrell. he's got the stuff you cant teach dirrell, though. he's a tough kidLast edited by New England; 07-29-2012, 08:41 PM.Comment

I think this is an excellent assessment of the fight and of George's career at present. The way he improves and adjusts is what I like the most about him. Bare in mind, he'd only had 2 rounds in the previous 12 months.perhaps i should qualify further my stance on groves.

Groves used Dirrell as a spar for the Degale fight and by all accounts acquitted himself well. It's actually a fight i'd really like to see in the future.Comment

lol, that last right-hand is the definition of 'big right hand'
It's the sort of punch you throw when hitting those punching balls things at a fun fair.

2 yrs from now Froch might be retired..He is not getting any younger..But as of now Groves better stay away from Froch..Far away..Comment

They are different stages in their careers and I hope froch is retired in 2 years as he's going to be spent by then I would imagine with all the tough back to back fights he taking.
Groves looked solid, his left hand needs some work, it doesnt look like it carries much pop and he gets a bit untidy and needs to settle down, but he's coming on well I think. I didnt think he would beat DeFail, but he did, so if they keep progressing with him, he could really shine in the next 18 months. He loves a tear up and happily will get in close and take a few shots to trade. Good power in the right and he's very entertaining, i'll definitely tune in againComment
