Hagler and Robinson definitely have a good chance at middleweight, and might be favored. At super middleweight there is absolutely no one I think beats Roy Jones.

At 160, I'd take Hagler over him for sure. Good case for Monzon.

      He beats every 168lber.

Roy was a great fighter in his prime but here's a list of guys at those weights who had at least a "small chance" of beating him

Robinson, Monzon, Hagler, Calzaghe, Ward, Mclellan, Eubank, Jackson, Burley, Lamotta, Turpin, Benn.

All of those guys in their prime, and they are the ones off the top of my head have at least a "small chance" at beating Roy.

He was a great fighter, but it only takes one punch to turn things around in boxing, Jones I feel always had a vulnerability about him although he was very hard to catch clean, but it could happen, even someone like Julian Jackson, Jones only got to make one mistake, get caught and it's goodnight.

It's a shame we never got Mclellan vs Benn because I feel he had the perfect style to take Jones out. Badly.
And I'm sure the only reason you think like that, is because you saw it first hand late in his career. Before that, noone ever talked about that.

i'd pick greb, monzon, hagler, and probably even past prime robinson to beat him at MW. roy was largely an unfinished product there. he did his best work at 168 and 175

h2h i think roy jones stands as the best 168 pouner of all time. it's not the thickest of divisions.
            That is such a myth

We never saw Jones chin tested by a puncher in his prime, the fact that his chin is 100% glass nowadays means one of two things:

Option a) Jones had an iron chin in his prime (although never proven) and it was losing weight fast that meant from that day forward, he had no punch resistance

Option b) in his prime, nobody landed on his chin, so we never saw how bad it was

I'm going with the common sense answer here, rather than the fanboyish, clutching at straws opinion that a crash diet permanently altered his physiology enough to ruin his punch resistance forever

People are overrating the hell out of a prime RJJ... no one even has a small chance?

yes but you notice they are not giving reasons, all they say is "jones is the best i ever saw" that's as deep as the analysis goes.

Anyone saying Ray Robinson doesnt even have a small chance of beating Jones should probably join the tiddlywinks forum instead because their boxing knowledge is shocking

that's the way it was. i wonder how you can possibly rate him so highly at MW when in reality he did next to nothing at the weight.

he had a style very appropriate for the professionals and developed quickly, and along those lines i'll agree that he's worthy of being in the ring with the men listed. that's a testament to how talented and skilled he was.

remember, his last fight at 160, and against his best opponent there, was against bernard hopkins. that was four years into his career, and hardly the roy jones who would later develop into the best p4p fighter on the planet while he was at '68 and 175. go back and watch the fight if you have to.

if somebody says that he ****** at 160 then you can consider that a myth. i am not saying that. you're talking about matching him with MW greats. against them MW roy jones would be considered very much a green fighter.

to think that a four year pro would not be in the danger of bein in over his head in deep water against the four best mw of all time (robinson, hagler, monzon, and greb,) is probably evidence of worship. you worship roy jones. it's always amusing. you do know boxing in some sense, but you're either a troll or biased.

you're talking about the four best MW to ever do it, and i know you give them no chance against jones at 160 lbs.

he was not the product then that he was at 168, even year and a half later against toney he looked a better fighter, and had four fights and 24 rounds to work on things and grow.

Froch would have been way too slow.
