Comments Thread For: Orlando Salido Beats Down Guiterrez; Mikey Garcia Next?

By Jake Donovan - Orlando Salido kept busy while awaiting his next big assignment, stopping Moises Guiterrez in the third round of a non-title fight Saturday evening in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico.

The resurgent featherweight is being groomed for a featherweight showdown with unbeaten contender Miguel Angel ‘Mikey’ Garcia, but opted to stay active in the ring. Saturday’s bout was Salido’s first ring appearance since knocking out Juan Manuel Lopez for the second time in as many fights this past March in one of the best fights of 2012.

Salido gave Guiterrez the full opponent treatment, beating down the Chile native before forcing a stoppage at 2:49 of round three. [Click Here To Read More]

Im not so sure about that. Mikey hasn't been in the ring with anyone like Salido. Mikey is good and has the tools to beat Siri but if he gets dragged into a brawl and starts trading with Salido, I think Salido wins the fight.

Mikey gets hammered like a nail by Salido. Not anywhere near the same league as Salido when it comes to digging deep against a top fighter, fighting a war, and stopping a top fighter. Salido takes him to the deep pool and drowns him.

No way, Mikeys too smart, composed and accurate to let Salido get to him. He packs a nice punch too.

If he becomes aggresives he dominates most ~ his weight.

Garcia has never been in with someone who'll put pressure and hands on him like Salido easy to stay calm against a guy there to go rounds and isn't trying or can't win not the same when it's a World level type fighter so should be interesting..Salido starts slow but makes a push into the middle - late rounds to secure a dec.

I believe Mikey has been ready for something like this for some time now. He has the tools. He demolishes fighters that would otherwise still be standing against lesser opposition. Salido-Garcia would be a barnburner.
