I don't know if Pryor was the best 140 pounder of all time, I simply don't have the knowledge to debate that topic. But "The Hawk" was a beast...a fucking beast. A good starting point for the argument would be his record of 39-1 (35 KOs), including two victories over ATG Alexis Arguello.

Cervantes good win for the belt, but dude was pretty much ancient at that point.

His two best defenses came against a guy that started at 126 and really didn't prove much at 140. Not to mention the whole bottle thing.

After that who is his next best win Akio Kameda? Who is mainly know for his fighting sons?

3 really good wins is all it takes to be the best ever at 140?
          Who's your choice?

It depends on how I want to look at it, if I want to go by what I saw and who I feel wins most of the time against other great 140 pounder I would say Pryor, a lot of people don't accept that reasoning though and say resume is everything~

If I am looking at just wins and loses, I would probably say JCC. You could make a case for Cervantes.

really? i think pryors ring IQ was higher, he went in there and attacked most of the time but thats bcuz of his mentality. there was alot more in in his arsenal than just overwhelming ppl though and i think he read his opponents and applied that more than he gets credit for.

pryor was a master at using angles, picked his punches well and knew how to keep swithing up the distance and move intelligently to keep his opponents from finding their range or get set. alot more method to his madness than most ppl see.

kostya for me wasnt an above average intelligence fighter, he made some adjustments in fights too but i dont see great ring intelligence. besides i really cant see anything in himthat makes me think he could cope with pryor.

I also don't understand why he's ranked so highly for 3 good wins, Arguello was no spring chicken himself and he was moving up.

Don't you think there ought to be a combination of factors in determining the best? Chavez had the better record, but you're essentially saying Pryor would've beaten him. C'mon...commit! lol
