A boxing official says a Turkish referee has been found dead in his London hotel room. Turkish Boxing Federation chief Bayram Altug says Friday the body of 73-year-old Garip Erkuyumcu was discovered by a colleague Thursday. A heart attack is suspected and autopsy results are expected Friday.

Damn!!!! A 73 year old shouldn't be reffing anything let alone something as physical as a boxing match. Boxing needs to invest in training younger refs. Too many old boys reffing and judging for my liking. Time for new blood.

Guy probably dedicated his whole life to Amateur Boxing for all the right reasons. Maybe it’s perfectly approprpiate that he goes out at the Olympic games, God Bless RIP

I've heard of guys 30 years old getting heart attacks, dying is dying. You can't have vast experience unless you live it, like this ref. Besides many fighters now fight into old age 40, 50 years old. Ramone Yori Boy Campas is a fossil. Don't be so hard on the old folks, they have to eat too. Condolences to the deceased' family.
