Comments Thread For: Nevada’s Keith Kizer Talks PEDs, Drug Testing: Part Two

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer spoke to BoxingScene.com last week about several topics related to performance-enhancing drugs and drug testing.

In part two of the interview, Kizer discusses the granting of the****utic-use exemptions. Nevada has issued exemptions to six mixed martial artists allowing them to undergo testosterone replacement therapy. Kizer elaborates on his concerns, what testosterone levels those fighters are allowed to have, and how the commission handles those who might have previously used performance-enhancing drugs. One of the fighters who he says Nevada have allowed to take TRT is this guy:

Call me cynical, but I find it hard not to look at that situation and think that the reason Duffee has low T levels is because he used steroids to build his physique. Either that or he built that muscle when on trt, in which case the levels they are allowing are too high or not being checked regularly enough.

I think it's clear that the reason UFC fighters are on this stuff and boxers aren't is because the UFC actually pushes it's fighters to use it, which was confirmed by Rampage Jackson in an interview a while back.

He mentions that he wouldn't be in favour of allowing TRT for someone who only took steroids once, even if it was as a naive 17 year old. Yet he approved it for Chael Sonnen. I just find that ridiculous.

Nevada has granted 6 the****utic use exemptions, and they're all MMAers?

Either there's something about MMA which attracts low testosterone people or that sport is chock full of cheaters.
