The lad needs to take some real boxing lessons,because his technique is simply horrible.The comparison to Rafa Marquez(who is finished as a world class fighter) is laughable,because Marquez is/was a technically proficient,compact puncher that could actually generate real power(at his peak,one of the best punchers in the sport).

Stop being dense, having a similar style doesn't mean you have similar individual attributes or nuances. When simply trying to examine if a fight would be good action/competition in the ring, for the fans, you should be able to see that MAres/Nishioka would be a good fight. Nobody is saying Mares is as good chinny Rafa, we're trying to match make for Mares. If you didn't think Mares at one time resembled JMM/Rafa when he was younger I don't know what you're talking about...I can agree his skills technically have stagnated but he's still been successful

Montiel and Terrazas would be bad choices and Rigo? I think Rigo extended with Top Rank so Im not sure that would happen.

My guess is Nishioka or Anselmo. And since Anselmo hasn't made his debut at 122 I dont think Mares as a first fight is a good choice. So my money is on Nishioka vs Mares in October. I think that's when they said he was gonna fight.
