    Not what I wanted

Wait, so we finally boxing back on network TV and it is going to be 4 round novices (no matter how talented Olympians are the opponents won't be). It is like putting High School football on TV and saying watch this because in eight years they are going to be stars? We need boxing stars on network TV now! "peeleft:

      > Olympians are talented, they go through their own vetting process, its not like someone won a spot on their national team by default

It's a start. If the ratings are decent maybe CBS will dish out some of that big CBS money for big fights.

Wonder how this will work...I doubt all of them will sign with GBP and or go pro...I like the idea though

Yay! 0-0 vs 2-15-1...the casual fans will flock and ratings will skyrocket....um no...

This is not 1976, nobody cares about Olympic boxing unless an American wins gold and even then most general sports fans won't notice.

So instead of proper boxing we get a bunch squash matches with exclusive rights going to GBP. Look at the 2008 class, most of them are still prospects 4 years later. Save this **** for FNFs.

I wonder if this will get attention from the Olympic Committee. I'm fairly sure it's against the rules of their amateur organization for these kids to be entering into agreements to turn pro and fight on TV while they're still ams. I would have preferred Golden Boy wait until after the Olympics to announce this. Given how poorly we did last Olympics the focus right now should be on winning medals, not future pro opportunities. Win a Gold medal and the pro money will come.
