Pretty much as I said. Dude took the fight and money for his family. He made it clear in his post fight interview. You got these guys around here believing the 147 lbs that HBO put up on the screen too. The guy was easily in the 150s. Whether he was 151 152 or more he was in the 150s.

Just when I was feeling bad for Escobedo in that post fight interview, he makes excuses and spews "shouldas, wouldas, and couldas". FACT: Broner weighed 147 on fight night, Escobedo weighed 142 on fight night. 5 pounds gave Broner a huge advantage? And, for people who said "Escobedo had to drain himself to make 130" Really? Because in his last 3 fights before he fought Broner, he was making 130. He didn't come down to JLW to fight Broner. He came down to make a career change and to see how he would do against JLW's due to him failing in all his big fights at LW. Do you think Escobedo and his management would go down to 130 if he was going to struggle to make the weight? No.
Escobedo got dominated, outclassed, and stopped because he is not on Broner's level, period. They were both welterweights on fight night. So, where is this "Broner was a weight class bigger" theory coming from? Anyone? It's completely false. I've already stated the whole weigh in situation was WRONG of Broner and his team, due to basic principal. But, I knew once both had re hydrated that they'd be pretty equal in size, and sure enough they were. Escobedo is just taller and longer, he has a lanky frame. Whereas Broner is shorter and has a stocky frame. I mean, the Klitschko's are usually 2-4 inches taller then their opponents, and outweigh them by more then 20lbs at times. Soooo....? Escobedo is a good, solid fighter. He was bested by a superior fighter.
Broner is a big puncher at any weight he's at, period. The fact of the matter is, Broner was more skilled, better defensively then anticipated by Escobedo, and hit harder and was faster then anticipated by Escobedo. Broner looked no different then he did against Perez and Litzau, and he made the weight in those fights.
Once again, the weigh in situation was WRONG of Broner, no doubt about it. But people are continuously milking this situation, and blowing it way out of proportion. The fight went on, Broner dominated and stopped Escobedo in 5 rounds and Broner was the better fighter on the night, period. Let's just drop this, move on, and anticipate what Broner will do at 135. I'm looking forward to it. And, everyone should be too if you're boxing fans.Comment
