If Bute gets smashed again by Froch in their rematch, Arum will jump on it and have Chavez fight him in 2013 for sure. It'd be interesting to see if they'd be willing to make the fight in Canada, or if they'd be able to lure Bute down to the States.

I don't think his power will carry over that well to 168. Look at Abraham. 168 is the land of the big boys. The elite have all faced each other, and they've been hit by much harder hitters than JCCjr.

I do like Junior, and i root for him strongly as the kid get's serious hate, but 168 would be a stern test. That's IF he mixes it up with the big boys....which if Arum has anything to do with it, he won't. Probably go after a Stieglitz type.

As Chavez goes up, he loses the only advantage he ever had.... size. He might beat some people and win a vacant at 168... but it'll stop there.... but of course the WBC will clear the line for him so he can win titles all the way up to heavyweight

When Pavlik came back and heard his plans of staying at 168 then a light bulb instantly lid up. I think that's Arum's plan, build up Pavlik then feed him to Chavez.

I look forward to seeing how they strip that WBC title from Ward so Jr can avoid fighting him. Maybe HBO will help trick Ward just like they did Martinez.

However, given that there's already talk about him moving up to 168, how do you guys see him doing in that division? His fight against Martinez in September will most likely be his last at middleweight - unless it's a draw or a close loss - then a rematch would probably happen. If Chavez wins (even if it's close), I don't necessarily see a rematch happening unless it's at a higher weight.

So anyway, how does Chavez Jr. fare at 168? Does he have any chance at beating any of the top guys there? I don't see him beating Andre Ward at all, and even though it would probably be a war while it lasted, Carl Froch would most likely knock him out. But what about guys like Lucian Bute? Kessler? Abraham (is he still fighting at 168?)
He gets pummeled by 95% of all the top guys there, maybe all of them. There is a reason why he has been fighting smaller guys for so long and struggling to stay at 160
