Could mean he just doesn't want to train back down to 140 and is going the comfortable route.

****** & Poor Management (His Pimp)For Maidana
This fight ruins a talent like Maidana, all so promoters can fill an undercard and make themselves money. A killer at 140 nobody including Mayweather, didn't want to fight. At 147 Maidana has already explained Devin Alexander was too big and string for him, at 147. At first Maidana said he was going back to 140 where he felt more comfortable. But now promoters and managers have talked him in to remaining at 147. Maidana now says, "I understand everyone will be bigger than me, I will just have to train harder". Really???? It's not that easy; it doesn't work that way!!! So now he fights at 147, will naturally weight around 147 on the night of the fight. UNFORTUNATELY, these "bigger guys" Maidana indicates he'll just have to train harder for, will rehydrate and weight 160-165+ pounds the night of the fight, and outweigh Maidana by 20-25lbs on fight night!!! Ask how Pacquiao how tough that is when he fought Margarito who outweighed Manny by more than 25lbs on the night of the fight. Manny said he would never do that again, and Maidana is going to find out the hard way.

This could very well be a FOTY fight if it lasts long enough. Yes maidana did look like **** at 147 vs alexander but thats just a one fight sample size, and plus alexander was holding alot. Lets see what maidana looks like with a new world class trainer and he's also got a S&C coach now.

I think that Robert Garcia May have asked him to stay @ 147. Yes, he did say he didnt like his lone fight at WW, but you cant fault the man for giving it another go. Maybe Garcia told him he would be able to make him an adequate fighter @ 147. I dont know, at least he isnt trying to squeeze down to be a bigger fighter in a lower weightclass.
Although, I would like to see Maidana throw down with Danny Garcia.
