Comments Thread For: Team Saldivia Attempting To Bring Kell Brook To Argentina

Discussions are ongoing to finalize a deal for a mandated IBF welterweight eliminator between Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KOs) and Hector Saldivia (41-2, 32 KO). The two promoters, Eddie Hearn and Sampson Lewkowicz, are holding the line in terms of the location.

this fight is a joke but what do you expect from boxing? warren probably paid off the ibf to get saldivia highly ranked. saldivia shook off his brutal 1 round ko loss by beating a couple bums. he's ready for a title shot!

As a big fan of Brook I don't like this.
He faded badly against a pressure fighter & almost got stopped now they're putting him straight back in with a real heavy handed pressure fighter in Saldivia?

I thought they was looking to bring in a S&C coach etc?
I fully expect Brook to beat the guy but tbh this spells out danger.

If Brook and Hearn want that title shot they have to go through Saldivia...... Do you think they should wait???

Quite possibly. He showed heart, a good chin etc but he has some obvious flaws mainly being his stamina. He was badly gassed as early as the 5th

If Saldivia could make it through the early onslaught, I'd probably favour him to come on strong & maybe stop Brook late.
He is vulnerable but he applies effective pressure in a similar manner to Jones & can sure crack.

I think it could possibly be Jones vs Brook all over again though for me Saldivia is possibly better than Jones at applying pressure & hits a tad harder.

but he doesn't have the defense or ring iq of carson jones. it's an easy fight and a pointless fight if you are a fan. if you are frank warren it's another easy payday for him.

I think Saldivia could potentially make this a tough, tough fight for Brook but like you said he doesn't have the ring I.Q or defense of Jones & its a fight Brook would receive very little credit for.

The fight to me makes little sense. I just don't like it so close to the scare Jones presented.

And Brook is no longer with fish-eyes

boxing isn't about credit. it's about money. it makes sense to them. they can fill an arena and make money off an easy fight(on paper)

oh yeah he's with matchroom or something.

The big (& currently unanswered) question is.....

What did Brook learn from his bout with Jones?

Or maybe it's 'What did we learn?'

If the Jones fight was part of a learning curve then it was a brilliant one which will stand Kell in good stead in future.

If the Jones fight showed Kell's limitations then sooner or later he's going to meet a tougher/faster/cleverer Carson & get knocked out.

                  I'm halfway between the two.

And let's also be careful before we count out these Argie boxers. I LOVE 'em. They come to fight & have heart all the way.......

This isn't a "choice" team Brook have made. It's a mandatory eliminator. For some reason people like Amir Khan and Victor Ortiz can avoid jumping these hoops but unfortunately for Kell his only way to the title is through this guy!!
Hopefully Brook has learned a lesson from the Carson Jones fight and will come into this figh in prime condition and box this guys head off. Hopefully.......
