Comments Thread For: Selcuk Aydin’s Weight On Target: "I Won't Pull A Broner"

By Jake Donovan - Selcuk Aydin failed to make good on his promise to participate in a media conference call last week to help drum up interest for his upcoming showdown with Robert Guerrero. At least he plans to show up on fight night at the proper weight and ready to fight.

A 7-day checkpoint conducted by the WBC revealed Aydin (23-0, 17KO) to be at 149 lb. a week ahead of Saturday’s clash, which airs live on Showtime from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

The maximum allowed weight for a fighter one week ahead of any WBC-sanctioned event is 5% of the contracted weight. Aydin and Guerrero can only weigh up to 154 lb. seven days prior to their welterweight battle. [Click Here To Read More]

So is the fight at 147 or at 154? Because those are two different divisions. This 5% crap is just pandering to the boxers who don't have the self control or discipline to properly train. It's an insult to sport because it makes excuses for lazy athletes.

Aydin can fight. Guerrero is an average fighter. Aydin will stop him easier than people think.

No he can weigh up to 154 7 days before the fight. So come fight night he will be 147. It'll be mostly water weight they drain off for the weigh in then put it back onfor the fight.

Guererro is much more skilled and has a better resume. All Aydin has is a punchers chance, nothing more.
