Good fighter but the plaster antics have really tainted his career.

By the time Margarito returned,he was 32 years old,had been fighting since he was a boy and fights in a manner that is not productive for a long career.

          Let's have some perspective here,lad.

Margarito career really ended after his fight with Pacquiao. Marg received so much damage in that fight that he had to have the opinion of 5 different ophtalmologist and finally the last one contributed to the state of denial that Marg lived duing 13 months (elapsed time between Pac's and Cotto fight). Bob Arum spent a lot of money not only paying the Dr. providing the false illusion of "getting better" for Tony but also in getting the license for the fight at MSG (which was in a brink of being cancelled). Going to the second fight with Cotto, Marg was a handicapped individual who was going to be under extreme scrutiny (as it happened) and it was easy to guess that the fight would be stopped easily (even a 140 or 147 pound boxer could have got the kind of swealling in the damage eye). After Marg's wraps incident against Mosley, some people started to especulate that he probably have used them in the past (which really continues being especulation). Miguel declared that he never would fight again vs. Marg because he didn't want to give a "cheater" the opportunity of making money with him. However, somehow after learning about the big handicap of Marg, Miguel decided to face him again (forgetting his pledge to not allowing a 'criminal' to get money). Cotto also said in numerous occasions that he was going to target that eye and with that he acknowledged the huge advantage that he was having. Leaving alone the false especulation of the wraps, it was obvious that Miguel came to the second fight with a different plan (not only targetting an already damaged eye) but also without allowiing himself to be standing close to the ropes (where Marg had the chance to get him). When the fight was stopped Marg hadn't landed even half of the power punches he did in the first fight (many came mainly in rounds 10-11 in 2007) and there was some damage in Miguel's face suggesting that if Cotto's plan has been the same than before he probably had experienced more punishment. At the end of the fight, Cotto was asked if he felt any difference in Marg's punches and Miguel honestly responded that the difference was the preparation and the strategy/plan that his cuban trainer put into effect. Marg finally has come to accept that his days as boxer are over since every time he could go into a ring would be in enormous disadvantage with that kind of lesion around his eye. There was a report around 2010 where it was estimated that his net worth was around 13 million (USD) mainly coming from investments in restaurants and properties,

prinze man, he was a whole 32! Wow that makes a difference! So he went from having enough power to make Cotto quit in 08 to getting a complete azz kicking by Mosely in 09, Pac in 10, and Cotto in 11 because he suddenly got old? Quit lying to yourself dude. Here's the straight truth Margarito never had the skills to beat a world class fighter without help. Take the help away he takes the beatings he took, hows that for perspective lad

One will be regarded as a true champ in historical boxing lore. The other not so much. Period.

He's the greatest of all time.

Tony would make easy work outta that bum Hank Armstrong.

A legend, a Warrior, and a man of the people. This is what describes Tony. He was a top WW for a decade and almost KO'd Manny Pacquiao with a body shot.

                  Tony is a living legend.

Pac even said he was lucky to get out that round. His words, not mine.

I shed a few tears when Tony announced his retirement. Absolutely gutted.

Will be YEARS before we see another ATG like Tony.

Thank you for the memories, Champ.
