It was the timing if anything. Garcia timed him with a perfect shot. Maidana is powerful but wild, and Peterson isn't that powerful to begin with.

I thought Khan took a lot of steam out of Maidana's punches early on with that body punch that knocked him down. It's hard to fully recover from those.

Counter shots hurt the most, cause when you swing you are open and often off balance plus you dont see the shot coming.

IIRC, the punch that Maidana hurt Khan with in the 10th was a counter right hand over a jab that Khan brought back lazily and low.

            Khan gets countered a lot.

Yea when you get countered by slow fighters like Maidiana it is time to rethink your strategy

To back up one poster, the important thing about the shot Garcia landed was that it landed behind the ear/on the neck - a terrible place to take a hard counter shot. Khan lost his equilibrium completely and he wasn't given a chance by Garcia to get it back. The minute inbetween the 3rd and the 4th was never going to be enough provided Garcia stayed on him.

It probably doesn't mean much. But, after Khan got hit by maidana's bomb, Ariza was straight in the ring during the break working Khan with a cloth/water, It was prevalent to me that Ariza was doing everything he could possibly do to help Khan recover. Now, the difference in Khan last fight was for all to see. All that happened after Garcias left hook was an ice pack placed on Khans neck and Roach asking Khan "Are you OK".

Maybe nothing would have changed, but at least put some cold water on the guys head.

Khan's chin is decent, or I should say it's closer to good than decent. People want to place the entire blame on Khan's chin when in reality it's his defense, I don't understand how people could be so blind. What Maidana, Peterson and Garcia had in common was that they all could land the overhand right consistently, Khan simply can't avoid that punch. The counter left hook may have started it for Garcia, but it was a multitude of overhand rights that finished it.
