Im Sorry to say this but Freddie Roach is NOt a Great Trainer

The Freddie Roach Style of Fighting:

-Throw wild offensive flurries in front of your opponent.
-When done or tired, stay in one place, cover up with both hands & let opponent hit you.
    -Rinse & repeat.

Its shocking how crude & elementary his fighter's tactics & style are & even more shocking how much success they've had employing this style. Boxing is an art. Its called the sweet science for a reason. The sweet science practiced at the highest level is akin to violent artistry.

Amir Khan has great height, reach, & speed yet he uses none of it. He fights small, doesnt use his jab & use his long reach. He's athletic enough but doesnt use the entire ring & move. Come to think of it, none of Roach's fighters employ the full arsenal of the sweet science.

They dont use their jab, they dont feint, they dont stick & move, & their game plan is sometimes just idiotic. Even roach's crown ***el pacquiao, there was really no improvement. The fact that every single marquez pacquiao fight has been exactly the same is testament to this. Even last night when khan got dropped, i dont think i saw Roach use water & ice to freshen his fighter.

I also think its highly unprofessional to train so many fighters at the same time. The fact that khan has to travel to the other side of the world just to get face time with his trainer imo is uncalled for. Roach works for khan, not the other way around. Even the atmosphere at the wild card is questionable. How can you train properly when the gym is packed to the brim with weekend warriors, amateurs, along with professionals?

I know Roach is in the hall of fame & pacquiao is an atg, but imo roach who was a face first brawler as a fighter, is grossly overrated & he would not be a trainer i would employ if i want my fighter to become a true master class boxer.

Joke coach roach gets fighters when they are already developed and teaches them nothing. I guess he did teach mammy how to throw a right hand

This is true. Roach is good at implementing ONE additional tactic to developed fighters, like he did with developing Manny's right hand.

even manny's tacitc against bradley of fighting only the last minute of every round was asinine. i think roach needs to look at his condition & retire. he is doing his fighters a disservice.

Yea Roach should probably hang it up as a trainer, NBC likes him as a color guy so he should just focus on TV much less stressful for someone in his position.

He should certainly cut way back as a trainer, he works with way to many guys. For a young healthy man it would be almost impossible to really do much with any of them on an individual basis and for a guy with a terrible debilitating illness there is only so much he can do.

I will say this though maybe keeping busy helps Roach deal with his personal situation but really he should find another way to keep busy.

Yeah, and we all saw how wonderful that right hand was in the third Marquez fight. What about Linares or Khan? What did Roach add to them that made them any different than they were before? the secret behind Roach' success as a trainer thus far has been clever matchmaking and nothing more.

Not to mention a lot of the credit he gets for training so many world champions is overblown, because most of them were all champions before Roach and only fought with him in the corner a few times. Guys like De La Hoya, Hopkins, Toney, Tyson, etc...
