Did anybody else think that ref was ****?

I thought Bayless did a fine job. He let Khan slide the first KD by letting him continue, despite Khan refusing to give his gloves to Bayless so that he can do the routine glove swipe on his shirt. Bayless compensated by stopping the fight when Khan did it again in the 3rd KD. Just nodding your head, and not coming forward, not even giving your glove to the ref is asking for him to stop it.

Like Cintron saying he could continue against Williams, but staying on the floor in "pain", so what other choice would the doctor have other than stopping it if you're not standing up? Khan was saying he could continue but refused to come forward, so what was Bayless supposed to do? I know exactly why Khan refused to come forward, he was afraid of wobbling his way to Bayless, which would show how hurt he was. Good for Bayless to identify Khan was a hurt fighter and stopped the fight due to poor response from Khan.

Bayless did a pretty stellar job IMO...called the bad punches by Garcia and gave Khan the chance to continue even though he looked like he didn't even know where he was.

I rewatched it and checked the clock on the first knockdown. The ref gave Khan 18 seconds to recover. Absolutely ridiculous. Garcia would have definitely taken him out in the third round with those extra 8 seconds.

Bayless is usually a good ref but he gave Khan too many chances, a lesser known fighter would have been stopped earlier.

I think he would have given them the same chance.... but... didn't like Khan and his push downs... plus he was pushing Garcia mad hard

Bayless was clearly trying to help Khan out but this is only fair after the way Cooper refereed the Peterson fight. A 10 count should really be made into a 16 count to help the fighter recover. Khan likes to blame bias refs and clearly Bayless was bias. This fight should be declared a no contest. I am sure if you watch the crowd there were strange things going on there also.

I think he was just making sure there would be no excuses or controversies after the fight. People can't complain that the stoppage was early, people cannot complain that Khan could not fight his fight, people cannot complain that Garcia was allowed to cheat.

Only critique is linked to him not stopping the fight in the third round to be honest. He didn't make the count and looked effed up.

You're on drugs. Kenny Bayless is a world class referee. He never makes mistakes and is completely fair.

Yes, he is world class but not last night. I agree with the thread starter, Bayless gave too many warnings away to Garcia. Most of those body shots were legal - the same punches Khan hurt Judah with. He also bought Khan extra time but I guess that was expected since Garcia was a huge underdog and Khan being the headline.


The most disturbing thing was actually Jim's **** talking again. He gave absolutely no credit to Garcia prior to the first KD and continued his semantics throughout the fight. Like the KO was accidental. It was not. We all knew Khan was the faster fighter but Garcia blocked the hard shots and countered Khan with his own powershots.

The kid showed guts and he deserves more credit.

Btw, another ****** comment from Jim Lampley's mouth about Garcia had me shaking my head. Why the 'ef should Garcia pay for his fathers comments? He was not the one talking smack.

Usually Bayless is ok but this time he was giving way too many chances to Khan, the fight would've been stopped in the first knockdown if there was any other fighter.
