the WBA needs to eliminate a few regional belts like the international & intercontinental belts because it makes rankings confusing. what they use to do was much more effective when they had 4 regional titles.
the WBA regular champion is really just the legit #1 contender. if they went back to the system of 4 regional belts it would give boxing fans a better understanding of the organizations ranking system. the 4 regional titles would determine spots in the top 10 & the 1 slot is the regular champion\#1 contender. the 4 regional belt holders should be ranked in the top 10 & at some point should have to face each other. in a perfect world they would be rank 2-5 say but obviously europe & NA will have much better competition so thats why they get better rankings if you hold a belt.
there is the NABA(canada,USA, mexico), Federlatin(central & south america), PABA(asia & south pacific countries of australia, new zealand, etc.), European( all of europe). the guys who hold these titles should be in the top 10 but i think to be the regular champion\#1 contender you should have beaten the champions of the other regions or at least 3 of the top 10. if you are the regular champion you should not be defending some paper title, you should be fighting the super champion next or be stripped of your ranking. the #1 guy actually shouldn't even be called a champion. he should have at least held his regions title then beat 3 top 10 guys to become the mandatory. it's too bad it's all corrupt & about money now.Last edited by joe strong; 07-14-2012, 09:49 AM. -
