Ward is paying his dues, you know like Floyd did years ago??? simple and plain Floyd did what he had to do to get to this level and is still fighting world class competition.

Right now there are rumors that Floyd may be fighting Amir Kahn at 147. Most Floyd fans & probably fight fans in general seem ok with this fight. But the fact is that Khan has not ever fought at 147 & there are fighters that deserve a fight with Floyd more than he does & those fighters probably will never be considered opponents for Floyd because they do not draw.

Meanwhile Ward will be fighting Dawson next Dawson is the recognized best fighter at 175. Yes they are fighting at 168, but the fight is between the 2 best fighters of there respective weight classes. There are some that call the fight boring. There are some that say the fight does not deserve it's 1 show 24/7. But this fight is between the 2 best fighters of a weight class separated by a weight class.

It is relatively safe to assume, or presume that you cannot say that there is a better fighter at 168 than Dawson. In stark contrast you cannot say the same about Khan at 147. There are fighters there right now ranked higher, with better welterweight wins over an undeserving Khan.

The difference between Ward & Floyd is that Floyd can fight whoever & put it on ppv, while Ward has to struggle to get draws, even if he's fighting the best fighters in the world. And for some reason, pfp will see Floyd as the better fighter even if it is Ward that's fighting the better fighters of the 2.
well isnt Khan the best at 140??is Floyd not the best at 147?

If he beats Garcia tomorrow, that would be safe to assume I guess. Now while I do think Bradley did duck can for the business move of an old Casa then Pacman, Khan gets that particular position by default. If Bradley was at 140 right now though, he would have been the man. With that said Warrrrrr Garcia.

personally i dont look at it in those terms

it's all about the next fight. right now manny pacquiao and floyd mayweather are the cash cows in boxing. cash in king in boxing or anywhere else. they weren't when they started boxing, and they're not going to be at their current paygrade forever. pacquiao's pay scale has almost certainly peaked, and floyd's will be soon to follow.

eventually, barring retirement, they'll be fed to younger fighters to pass the torch and increase the earning potential of the next generation. if they stick around long enough these guys who are making big dollars will become roy jones, wandering europe and getting the trash kicked out of them for short money.

This is a very good question, I'd love a Floyd fan to answer it.

and amir khan is a bigger guy than floyd mayweather.

taller, slightly longer reach, was a monster LW only when he was young. will finish his career as a WW with muscle or perhaps even at 154.

if this were 1950 they would both be WWs

Khan and Floyd are also the best fighters at their weight class.

Pac and Bradley have unfinished business at this point.

                      It's a good fight.
