Under Schaefer's logic, Lopez should get the winner of Chavez-Martinez or Ward-Dawson should he beat Canelo. Funny what has happened with Chavez and Canelo, Canelo is the one who's quickly becoming a joke, whereas Chavez is fighting a top 3 P4P and lineal MW champ coming off a couple of fights vs solid contenders

He makes good points. I find it funny that people are trashing the fight, but a lot of them are the same people who viewed Victor Ortiz as a legit opponent for Canelo when that fight was being discussed. So this guy (Lopez) ruins it all and goes and brakes Ortiz's jaw and makes him quit, but he isn't a legit opponent? Come on now. That doesn't make any sense. Lopez might be a little small as far as his actual weight but he has the frame to put on more weight and compete. He's a live opponent who is deserving of a title shot, and I am expecting this to be a good fight. Finally, I think Canelo is in a no-win situation with a lot of you hypocrites. Whoever he fights, you are going to condemn him, because you just don't like him. For the most part, Manny Pacquiao has been doing exactly what Canelo has been doing (taking easy fights where he has all the advantages) for the last 3 years and he hasn't been criticized anywhere near as much. Unfortunately, I see a worrying trend occuring in the sport with a lot of boxers looking to do things the easy way by taking on weak/disadvantaged opponents who they can look very good against while avoiding the best guys out there, so that they can look much better than they really are. What the???? So, Pac vs ODLH is the justification he's using? I could list the reasons why that's utterly redonkulous, but why bother? Sounds like that's their story and they're stickin to it. Just hope GBP doesn't come out with the "I was misquoted" line when people start throwing it in Schaefers face about when he said he wouldn't have Canelo fight Lopez if Lopez beat Ortiz.

GBP is a disgrace for making this fight. As much as I liked Josesito's last fight it doesn't mean he's qualified or the best opponent for the "WBC Jr Middle" joke that is Canelo Alvarez. It's kind of ironic for all the other GBP fighters that campaign near 154 and have been waiting for their opportunity for 2+ years. Lara, Angulo, Molina or Kirkland who have never had their shot. It seems that GBP is content on matching all of their Jr Middles against each other and giving Canelo the Jr Welter or old shot fighter a la Mosley, Cintron, Baldo.Comment
