Here is some details of a bid in general:
In the sport of boxing, whenever there is a title eliminator, a mandatory title defense, or a fight for a vacant title, the promoters of each fighter attempt to compromise a purse split but if no compromise can be reached, then the sanctioning body in charge of the bout will call a purse bid.
There is always a minimum bid set by the sanctioning body and depending on how big the fighters are, if the fight will be on television, if both of the fighters are well-known, and many other factors, that determines the minimum bid- sometimes the minimum bid may only be $50,000 and other times it may be over a million dollars. The promoter who bids the most money wins the purse bid and therefore, he gets to determine where the fight will take place.
Typically, under the sanctioning body's rules, the champion will receive 75 percent of the purse whereas the challenger will receive 25 percent, however there are exceptions to the rule such as if one of the fighters is much more of a big name and draws more revenue than the other fighter, he will sometimes get a bigger percentage of the purse after getting approval from the sanctioning body. In fights for vacant titles or title eliminators, the purse is usually split 50/50 between the 2 fighters, however there are also exceptions to this rule as well- sometimes the higher ranked fighter or the fighter who is a bigger name and draws more revenue for the fight will get the bigger purse split after getting the approval of the sanctioning body. Each of the fighters also does not get all of the money that their split includes because they must pay the sanctioning fees, and the must pay their promoters and trainers their cut of the money (which can vary depending on the fighter's contract).
So, to use your example with the 2 million dollars and doing it in a general sense without including any exceptions, here are the different scenarios:
~ Champion defending against mandatory challenger- champion will receive $1.5 million while challenger will receive $500,000 and the fight will take place where the promoter who won the bid wants it to take place.
~ Fight for a vacant title or title eliminator- both fighters will receive $1 million and the fight will take place where the promoter who won the bid wants it to take place.Comment

LOL I am sure Lara is somewhere Laughing His A$$ Off and saying to himself "I BEEN TRYING TO FIGHT YOU FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS...DON'T TRYING TO ACT TOUGH NOW!"
Vanes should close his mouth...Your the Lucian Bute of the 154 Division! As soon as you step up competition your going to get Blown The *** Away and look completely out of your league...talk about not fighting anybody, Vanes Resume is a Comedy Script For A Sitcom its a COMPLETE JOKE, Lara wanted to fight you before his last fight and your excuses was "I WANT A GUARANTEE FROM THE WBC TO FIGHT CANELO" now he is trying to run his mouth?
Lara would have no problem with Vanes, he has some boxing skills but he brings nothing to the table that will give Lara any problems or worries, his Power is AVERAGE and he doesn't move his head at all, he has decent footwork and hand speed I will give him that but WHAT ELSE? He Cuts very easily and he is not hard to hit because he doesn't move his head
Please make this fight Happen so Lara can Crush this FRAUD and pick up a title that FRAUD been holding hostage for the last few yearsLast edited by KnockUTheFukOut; 07-11-2012, 06:41 PM.Comment
