well it was a negotiation. if u read the article, it was clear they were trying to negotiate a later date.

im talking about the one just posted. last week is when negotiations begun, sure, but there was nothing that ever said they were completed. that article takes a quote from dirrell about his opponent. but there was nothing there that said both sides came to acceptable terms.

either way, this isnt something thats surprising. it takes at least 2 months to prepare for a fight at the world class level. i dunno why ppl are shocked. unless a fighter was already planning on fighting, its highly unlikely any world class fighter would have tried to get ready for a fight of this level in a month.

I think he knew the time they were working with when negotiations begun.... Not enough time is a way to save face imo..... Lets say there is the slim chance he didn't know the date.... That falls on his mgmt team which all comes back to Dirrell since that's who he picked to represent him....

But we can agree to disagree...... Just my 2 cents

Don't kid yourself. Of course he knew that Yvon Michel wanted the fight on august 11. That was never a secret. There was even arranged a Quick pursebid and Dirrells manager Said Dirrell was ready.

It makes no sense for Dirrell to say that the conditions have to be right in this case if that means that he will only fight in his garden or whatever. He should have just Said that. He did not, which makes it clear that it was either a PR stunt or ******ity.

Now Dirrell is healing back to the clubcircuit. If he wants to resume his career that is. His (undeserved ) chance at getting back to relevance is gone and the Road back is now longer than ever.

1 Month is realistically not enough. This is a better reason than what I thought was the problem, which is monetary issues. Team Dirrell is right, one month is not enough to get down in to shape and train for a fight. Fighters take 8 weeks to train, he only has 4 weeks basically.
not everyone is a boss like Joesito Lopez. especially a Dirrell. one out on fake injury and the other one is just plain ole lazy!

Say, Kessler turned down Adonis Stevenson too. And he actually had plenty of time to get a full training camp in when this was offered. Unlike Dirrell.

Is the Dane ducking the power punching Stevenson?

A Real Professional would be ready!

I have been hearing about the possibility of the fight for a few weeks so in saying that, if you were a true professional you would have had better than six weeks to get ready. Dirrell has superior hand speed, ring generalship, foot speed and experience but the heart of a cowardly lion! Boxing need more men like Ward-Dawson in order to go to the next level you fight.
