as long as canelo isnt headlining a PPV i would not mind maidana or lopez as opponents. if it's on PPV i'd think that was greedy of the promoter, and i would not buy it or support it as a ppv.

i'm not going to expect these guys to make poor business decisions to please some of the complete fools on boxingscene, who wouldnt know what the hell to do with a potential gold mine like canelo.


be patient and they'll feed this kid to the f#cking dogs for the money. everything they do is for the money, and that's not going to change because some guys on boxingscene don't understand the concept of making money in boxing. it's not happening now. get over it and wait. that's how this game works and will always work. it would not work if it was run any other way.

i don't give a damn about paper titles man. seriously. i dont pay attention to them in the least, and neither should anybody else. if you really understand what they are you dont give a damn about them, unless you're a boxer, promoter, network, manager, trainer, venue, etc.

virtually every writer discounts paper titles. to historians they mean next to nothing.

they are paper titles. titles in name only. just look at how canelo won said belt.

why then put so much importance into it? it's a farce belt


there are four belts in a division. some recognize five.
they have interim, vacancies, diamond, silver.
the best four fighters in the division are almost never the ones who hold them.

the titles exist to make money for the sanctioning bodies, promotors, networks, venues, and fighters, in that order.

i put ZERO stock into them

in my eyes canelo is not a world champion. he's a 22 year old with almost unlimited earning potential. fighters with starpower like his dont come about very often.

they should match him carefully until they get him in the ring with floyd mayweather.

This isnt right ive been patient with this kid but hes had the belt for a few fights now. This is a joke defense Molina, or Berto moving up wouldve been much better options. I agree that Lara, Trout and Vanes would be the most deserving but I dont think their styles would mesh well with canelo's. Hes not to active and those three arent much better. I think theyd make for dull fights. Nonetheless any of those guys a much more appropriate opponent. Fk it through ODH in there for one last Mex independence day fight. Anyway now its an easy desicion martinez v chavez.
