New England I didnt know you were this hard behind Canelo, damn. But Im not gonna get into an argument about this. You cant always agree with everyone. I LIKED the guy but I cant support this fight nor one with Mayorga. This fight does nothing for him as far as progressing. How does neither one of these fights help him vs Mayweather or even Cotto? There's gotta be an opponent out there with the same risk level as Lopez and Mayorga and do more for him as far as preparing for one of those two. I think he can easily beat K9 who is much more of a live dog than Lopez at 154 and Mayorga. And beating K9 would at least get him SOME type of credit.

I understand boxing is more of a business than anything nowadays but we cant keep supporting **** like this. If we do, promoters will keep shafting us and those MORE DESERVING fighters. Actually not just promoters but it seems sanctioning bodies are going the same route *cough* WBC *cough*.

True, but I was giving Canelo a pass cause of the circumstances of him trying to secure a better foe but it fell apart of events out of his control.

But a dude that is actually two weight class below him. And it wasn't like Lopez was dominating the fight but he out manned Ortiz. **** even on the Ortiz/Canelo match I was critical. Not everybody can go effectively up in weight

i'll begin with this : canelo does not pick who he fights at this stage. they have the final say (yes or no, basically,) but they dont match themselves.
if i'm hard behind anything right now it's matchmaking. this is always the way it has been.

i am not going hard for or against canelo in the least, captain. i'm shedding light on the situation. i'm talking about goldenboy promotions, and explaining their motivation. i like canelo, but i like a lot of fighters. a dog likes a bone.
that doesnt mean that's what's going to dictate my logic entirely.

i've already said that i wont be buying the PPV. i'll watch it on HBO

i'm not out here calling lopez a beast. all i said was that ortiz was scheduled to fight canelo and lopez broke his jaw, and that people would literally whine when lopez got the shot. what did you expect was going to happen if lopez won?
they should have started whining when ortiz signed to fight lopez, then.

All they have to do is wait one day to make whatever official...JR/Sergio press conference is tomorrow, not everyone is convinced that fight will happen. I'll be shocked if Sergio shows up...but it will be a sign of confidence.

who knows, maybe Canelo's fight is only show in town that night.

I think you might have misread my last post.....there isn't much difference, but I say Mayorga is the better option at this point... better test of his chin, adds more to his bottom line because of the name, and will be a decent show like he did with Cotto. The build up will be funny, he will talk **** for every Canelo hater out there, which are many. It seems like a logical step up in power/size from Shane. Almost guaranteed to gas himself out, so it's not too much of a threat...while not appearing ot be a bully against the smaller lopez
