but the guy is damn good. damn good.

great defense. great counterpuncher. great power. very rare combination of skills.
How can his resume be overrated when thats his point of criticism. <_<

Anyway, Rigo gets hype because even though he has 10 pro fights, its not like he's very inexperienced. He'a not pro at his age by choice and he'd have had huge expectations no matter when he went pro due to his amateur brilliance. That and if you see his fights he just has it. It also helps he is being openly avoided by a top "p4p" fighter and is actively seeking the best in the division but cannot find them.

See that's the thing though, NE....nobody is really overrating his resume...u think us so-called "Rigontards" don't know that Rico Ramos is f**king garbage as far as the grand scheme of things is concerned? LOL....

      That's never been a leg to stand on when defending him. There are a few things about Rigo, fan or not, that have to be recognized;

      1. The fact he's arguably one of ,if not the, most accomplished and dominant boxer in panamerican/Olympic & international competition lets us know that he's not the average fighter with just 10 professional fights. The dude is a veteran, and everything about him is a testament to. Does it mean everything? No, of course not. But it means something.

      2. Rigondeaux will never be a major p4p draw. Ever. He's not marketable, came in it with a very limited fanbase, and isn't a brawler capable of giving u fireworks time & time again at an elite level.

      3. He's a beltholder and widely recognized as the #2 guy in his division. There is no way around that.

      4. There are guys who are clearly less talented, from an inferior pedigree, and who are even lesser draws and arguably less deserving, getting bigger opportunities than he is.

      5. It doesn't take a long time boxing historian to watch this guy fight and realize he's something special. Like u mentioned, the combination of skills that he possesses are very unique. There are power punchers. There are technicians. and then there are prolific counterpunchers. Very rarely do u see a guy that combines all 3 and does so as masterfully.

Because that's how it works. Fighter A wont fight fighter B.

By NSB logic fighter B is automatically better and fighter A is ducking.

        Martinez Pirog
        Ward Bute
        Donaire Rigondeaux
        Bradley Khan
        Gamboa Rios
        Canelo everyone
Dirrell everyone (it does seem like he's ducking his job in general, though)

So if you ever want to know who is the best p4p just come up with a fantasy matchup for a p4p fighter, if it doesn't happen, you know your answer.

Whenever a reporter asks him about future fights Donaire should just start saying, "ask my promoter Bob Arum."

Ok, according to boxrec Rigo was 20 when he won the WBA interim bantamweight title and it was his 7th fight.

Sugar Ray won the WBC strap at WW in his 26th fight. He was 24.

I just glanced at their records when I did the first post. Lol didn't think anybody would raise the bar on me
Rigo was 30 when he won the interim strap from Cordoba... He didn't turn pro until he was 28.

Becuz he'd whoop all the guys in his div if he could get um in the ring, it aint hard to see that.
his talent exceeds his resume basicaly, and didn't they put Spinks in with Ali after only 7 pro fights...

Look..this guy is 2 times olympic champion.2 times world champion..6 times panamerican champion..6 times Cuban national champion..this guy is boxing everydau from his 6 years old..everybody take math and history at school in Cuba they go to IDE them ESPA ..just learning boxing..belive me be 6 times Cuban champion is hard ..the worst in there is 2000 times better than mathebula..he beat two time yuriorkis gamboa..if u ask him how much is 2 + 2 maybe he dont know but in boxing he is a master..he is not loosing anytime soon..and donaire, nishioka and mares know..he havent fought nobody at pro cuz they wont fight him..thats my opinion is not the absolute true..i hope better fights to come and no more picking old fighters..rigo should fight mares whom he alredy beat in the amateurs or donaire who is for sure a very talented fighter who dont trust in himself..if they lose they lose against the best..that is allways a win in tha fans heart.

He was actually 30 not 20 (he is 31 now n that would imply he has only had 3 fights in the last 11 years)
