Who gives Adamek a pass? I will start by saying that it is shameful that Adamek is fighting Toney and I am a fan of Tomasz. But as for the rest of his record at heavyweight I am okay with it, well most of it. And I will even go fight by fight.

He fights Golota who had name recognition and was a pretty big dude. So, not such a bad choice for his first fight in the division. He then fights Estrada, and maybe he wasn't a real threat because he has no power. But, if I remember correctly he was ranked around the top fifteen when they fought. And then Adamek takes on Arreola who was and still is ranked in Rings top ten. So, anyway you look at it that fight was not a bad decision on Adamek's part. Especially because he won.

He then fought Grant who is not a great fighter but he is decent one. He is also a big dude who still has some pop. And I believe he is still ranked rather high even at his advanced age. As for Maddalone he was in no way a good opponent. But it was Adamek's 4th fight in 2010 and how many elite fighters fight four times a year regardless of who they are fighting? I am not sure but it has to be a very short list.

I will skip right over the 280 pound Irish slob and then he fights Vitali. He doesn't fair well against Vitali but he came to fight and went out on his shield. Again not something you can say about most of the heavyweights of today.

I also have no problem with his comeback fight. Because after all he was just brutalized by Vitali. Then he fights Chambers, who is an elite heavyweight who is unranked by Ring only because of inactivity. And I had no doubts that Tomasz won that fight. Now as far as Toney is concerned, the fight is an absolute joke and not a very funny one.

So, going back over Adamek's record at heavy. He has fought nine times to include three against top ten fighters and two against top twenty fighters. Besides the Klit bros and Chambers and Chagaev how many other heavyweights can make that claim? Again I am not sure but it has to be another short list.

And I prefer the fact that Tomasz moved up and worked his way through the division a little before he fought Vit. Because the fact is he is a two division champ. And he could have moved up and fought only Golota or possibly even no one within the division, see Huck. And still eventually been ranked by some alphabet org and ended up fighting a Klit bro.

So, in my opinion anyone of us can be critical of a few of Adamek's opponents. But, the fact that he has fought nine times within the division in just under three years says a lot to me in a time when must elite fighters just sit around waiting for the once a year super fight to come along. And as far as Fury is concerned I don't personally care who he fights because I think he stinks and the first time he steps up I believe he will be beaten easily.

What a superbly wrote piece Ravens Fan I couldn't possibly agree more, but I would like too point out that I believe Toney is only a keep busy fight until Goral's promoters find him a top class opponent for December.Adamek stated straight after the fight with Chambers he wanted to enhance the opposition level he had just faced, tentative feelers were put out too Povetkin before the Chambers match up and the responses they got were luke warm at best but I believe as was reported Povetkin's team didn't reject the idea outright, therefore Duva and the team thought there was a genuine chance a match up could be made in Poland. Now pull me where you believe Adamek is avoiding top opposition and just fighting gimmies, but I think its evident for all too see that Povetkin's management releasing the press statement they had no desire for an immediate match up with Goral,as they are pursuing other avenues,ie Huck and Chisora from the reports I have read, two gimmies fights for Povetkin. So in short Povetkin is avoiding Adamek too milk his belt, before most likely vacating so he isn't forced to fight Wladimir.
Skipping back too Adamek he obviously took the Toney fight as too stay busy as he also stated he wants to fight 4 times a year as staying in shape with 4 training camps a year benefits him more when he comes too face quality opponents.

If the Fury v Adamek fight is made for December which I find increasingly hard too believe Fury's promoters would put him in the ring with Goral after he was flattened by Pakjic and shook by Firtha, imagine what Adamek would do too the fat gypsy lump, career lightest of not Fury would be ko'd.

If Goral gets Povetkin and Fury within the next 18 months and beats both were talking about a record also including Chambers and Arreola on,that would be some record considering the other fighters that are around today repeatedly trying to avoid contenders and make a title fight using other means at their disposal.

I can not comprehend where all the criticism of Adamek comes from apart from the fact he beat America's last hopeful Arreola,I feel its a case of American resentment towards the Pole with him beating yet another American fair and square, the scorecards don't lie in his fight against Chambers, and he also beat Arreola in his back yard.

Get behind the lad, these are the types of fighters we will miss when they're gone, who else as showed a willingness to fight the very best and come up trumps apart from when he faced the very best in the business in Vitali Klitschko and Chad Dawson.

I think it goes on too show how good Chad Dawson is that he beat Tomek by unanimous decision, what a legend he can go on to become if he beats Andre Ward.Ward is easily the best American along with Mayweather right now,the three of them the country should be extremely proud of they are a credit too the sport through their professionalism within the ring, and attitude towards training camps. Its incredible when you look at the talent of someone like Povetkin and his unwillingness to train properly or eat like an athlete he is fast becoming a disgrace in my opinion.

I also don't understand why he gets criticized. Adamek comes to fight he is in shape stays busy and fights a fan friendly style. You also pointed out that he had beaten Arreola in his backyard and I had forgotten about that. But as far as Toney is concerned I just can't agree with the fight and I really hope that the fight doesn't happen. By the way thanks for the kind words.

Maddalone looked like someone who had taken up boxing for a quick buck.

When I first saw him square up to Fury I thought we might be in for at least a brawl, instead what we got was an absolute farce.

Boxing in the UK needs all the positive publicity it can get but is Fury really up to the challenge? Fair enough, he has improved a lot. Shed a few pounds and put together some ok punches but perhaps a better opponent would have not given him the chance to look good.

Anyone here heard Maddalone tell his corner about trying to land his devastating right hander? God help us, his skills looked very lacking to say the least, his left jab a joke!

Maddalone also chose the best distance to fight from, for Fury that is, which ensured that Fury could land at will whereas Maddallone couldn't.

We can all guess what Maddalone's style of fighting will do to his brain, if it hasn't already.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Fury's promoter just went on too much but the pleasant surprise was Eubanks Jr. He really did show some great skills, may have been lacking in power but hopefully this will improve.

Nice to see boxing back on TV in the UK, but there must be much better talent to showcase.

            Regards,

            Victor.
