Lol you can't teach heart. Linares clearly has all the talent, it's something in him that's the problem and not Roach.

No, only the first verse. Listen to the rest.

He went to jail for beating up a woman. Roger tried to choke a young woman to death.

The Mayweathers are very poor role models for young people.

freddie is a very good trainer and if you've seen film of him in the gym you'd know that. Second of all training is done in the gym and not every good trainer is equally as good in the corner of a fight. Right now Freddies disease is not enable him to get his fighter settled if need be then give "two" main points across to him. I give him credit for his bravery and its obvious all his fighters understand his short comings. I notice he uses Manny second in the corner prior and during the minute rest to ad instructions that Fred has already related to him. Most fighters Methods are from their style when they fought and Freddy does that but also adds in a few techniques he learned after his career was over. Also you need to realize that fighters are very stubborn group of men who when under fire resort to their "inner" soul of being! Some will look to over come and dominate others will look to fend off and remain defensive and others will look to solely survive. Nothing you could do about whats inside a fighter and its not up to a trainer to try too.
If Chavez brings his son to Freedy that should tell you something right there. For now Freddy is good for the kid and that may chance or remain but the fact remains that Roach knows what he's doing and what he does he does very well. He is an old school approach trainer and has been learning how to deal with different personalities and thats not easy to adjust too!!!
Knowing Methods and Techniques is one thing then being able to teach them is another and then gaining trust is the last ingrediant needed. Seems to me he has done that from what I see, I'm not in his gym to judge but people who want the best for their fighters bring them to him and he is trying to develop local talent all the time. Do you have any idea how much talent a trainer looses to the streets every year???
Good job Freddy, keep on working at it! Ray Corso

How can you look at Pac before Roach and Pac after and say he is not much better?

Roach isn't perfect, but the man makes fighters better most the time. He's sure as hell one of the best trainers in the sport, which is all that most people call him.

Pretty much this, if he wasn't good they wouldn't keep going to him and he's humble enough to give the credit to the fighters.

Manny's overweight friend coaches him more in between rounds then roach does. Freddy only gets in like one sentence. Pretty sad.
