I bet if they would of done this tournament a couple of years ago at WW when Floyd and Cotto were around Cottards would be *****ing about Mayweather retiring and calling him a chicken to prove who's the best WW but now that their hero is and HAS been ducking top comp at 154, his fans will say it's ok for him not to fight.

Without Floyd/Pac/Margarito and Mosley.......Cotto is just a minus 250k PPV boxer.

I'm almost positive we'll see Cotto fight N'Jikam for that MW title in December, than Canelo in May/June in a big fight.

If Trinidad was in a tournament, why doesn't Cotto belong in a tournament?

He gets a pass if he doesn't want to participate in one, but he isn't exempt from tournaments just because he's one of the most popular already. Mayweather, at this point, should be the one to fight the winner of a tournament so he gets a pass, but that doesn't mean he doesn't belong.
nah, cotto shouldnt decide whether canelo goes in the tourney, thats silly. cotto doesnt need a tourney, he makes plenty of cash, #3 paind fighter in the sport, he can get any fight he wants and he has options. it makes no sense for him to fight in a tourney when he can get canelo outside of one anyways. the tourney idea is not for him. its for the up and coming guys in the division, the ones who need exposure, experience or both, like lara and canelo. cotto needs neither.

not at all...canelo is neither more recognized nor more experienced than cotto. they might be a 50/50 fight if they ever fight, but at the end of the day, cotto is a different level in those categories.

So if you exempt, you know, the biggest fights of his career, he's only a 250k ppv boxer.

                  GENIUS!

But help me out, who else does 250k+ ppvs even without a Floyd/Pac/Mosley caliber opponent.
