Comments Thread For: NBC Sports Extends 'Fight Night' Series Through 2014

By Jake Donovan - Kathy Duva and her Main Events promotional company didn’t quite know what to expect once the initial one-year, four-fight deal with NBC Sports Network ran out.

Thankfully, she won’t have to worry about that for at least the next two years.

NBC Sports agreed to extend its ‘Fight Night’ series another two years, to run through 2014. In addition, the series received an upgrade of a guaranteed minimum of six fights per season, up from the four slots Main Events was promised for the inaugural season.

In addition, a promise was made of up to two shows per year to air live on its flagship station NBC. [Click Here To Read More]

That's huge. 2 fights on actual NBC huh? I wonder what they are paying and how big of names they are looking for?

duva has done a great job & getting good fights on NBC. i like that she wants to work with all promoters who are willing to make solid matchups on television. there was a couple setbacks but for the most part i have enjoyed the series. good for boxing & this will continue to do well if good & even matchups are placed on the televised card.

Yep, that's the big part right there. She didn't sign an exclusive contract. This is going to open it up to competition. Let's just hope NBC is willing to spend the money. Thes two shows they will put on network tv could bne the beginning of a big network deal for boxing.

Man this is so huge, people need to understand this.

I've been a big fan of the "Fight Night" series and am glad to hear it's going to continue. More boxing on TV, especially free TV is good for everyone.
