So you're saying that people would rather fight dehydrated and weak instead of being more natural to the weight class they should be competing at? I think it would make these "big guys" for their weights move up and fight guys their own size. I wouldn't care if a guy got hurt because he was trying to be a big fish in a little pond. This would weed out the guys that should be fighting a weight class or two above what they are... if they get hurt because they fight dehydrated who gives a ****! Fighters shouldn't have to dehydrate to make weight... that's the whole principle of weight classes or atleast why I think they have weight classes. We compare fighters of today to fighters of the past and forget that todays fighters fight guys that they never would've with same day weigh-ins. A "big welterweight today would be a middleweight or super middleweight of the past. I find it fairer to ALL to have same day weights instead of fighting middleweights at welterweight come fight night. If you can't make the weight safely than move up and fight guys you own size or suffer the consequence of serious injury. Making less weight classes with having these guys rehydrate to over 2 classes above what they should be fighting at would just make it so there would be catchweights or no guys moving up in weight... and to me that's ******. UFC has relatively no fighters that are good in more than 1 class because there is too big of a difference in weight to make up especially when having people rehydrate so much. I find it ridiculous that to move up 10lbs for a weight class... you really have to gain 20lbs atleast. I agree with you that they need to get rid of some of the small weight classes though.
What would you rather see and why?

I was glad to see my all time favorite Jose Napoles on your fighter list. Go back to same day weigh ins for sure. That was a much better way. Most fighters would be forced to move up to a higher weight class but that would be good. You would not have fighters like Chavez coming into the ring over 20 lbs. heavier than what they weighed in at. I don't blame the fighters, they are playing by the rules. Change the rules. As for weight classes I think any weight class that is not at least 5 lbs. bigger than the lower class should be dropped. Start at 105. Drop 108. Keep 112. Drop 115. Keep 118. Drop 122. Keep 126. Drop 130. Keep 135, 140, 147, 154,160, 168, and 175. Drop 200 down to 190 where it used to be. It was supposed to be a class for fighters who could not quite get down to 175 but did not want to fight big heavyweights. How many 200lb champs do not move on to the heavyweights? Almost none. No big gaps between weight classes but no weight classes only a steak dinner apart.Comment
