Should weight division rules be changed?

It seems like there are no longer weight divisions in boxing with the 1 day rehydration period allowing fighters to baloon up 10-20 lbs for fight night. Personally I feel that there should at least be a 5lb limit of rehydration if not bring back same day weigh-ins. How can you call Chavez Jr a middleweight when he enters the ring at 180 lbs or Victor Ortiz a welterweight when he weighs 160+ on fight night? Opinions please

Just go back to same-day weigh-ins and all the BS stops.

No, I would just have one champion in each weight class.

This. If fighters still wanna play with their weight and die because of this, it's on them.

should be same day weigh ins, simple as that, or your idea of a limit of eg 5lbs is OK...but professional boxing is all about $$$$$$$ and therefore you won't see that happen anytime soon!

Its fine the way it is.

A better solution is to get rid of the super/junior divisions so frauds like Chavez JR have to choose between 147 or 160.

initially the day before weigh in was so that fighters had more time to recuperate from cutting weight before getting in the ring, that still holds.

chavez jr, rios etc would still cut alot of weight and be much bigger than their oponents even if they had to weigh in on the same day which would be dangerous to their health. now ofcourse its dangerous to their oponents health instead which isnt right either.

i think there should be two weigh ins, one a day before and another the day of the fight. give them a limit of how much weight they can put on before fight night. this is for two reasons, one bcuz i think its the most secure thing health wise and two bcuz it maintains the promotional tool of the day before weigh in. the weigh in buzz has been huge for the last couple of big fights and we all know boxing needs that publicity.

Think of fighters like the mandatory challengers that get 1 shot at a big pay day in their entire career. They aren't going to miss out that pay day for anything and would risk permanent damage going into the ring dehydrated for the money.
