My mistake--I didn't realize Golovkin has one of those crap "interim" WBA belts. Pirog's WBO belt is worth more than that worthless junk. The sanctioning bodies are disgusting.

Not that the belts matter much in the big picture...but Pirog had a couple of years to fulfill his commitments to the WBO. He could have fought N'Jikam instead of wasting time with crap opponents after the Danny Jacobs win.

Golovkin has tried to Unify with Sturm for the last 2 years. Sturm's ducking has voided his WBA super belt, if anyone has a paper belt it's Sturm. If he wins against Geale expect him to give up the WBA Super belt so he won't have to fight the Golovkin/Pirog winner.

He did fulfill his commitments to the WBO that's what makes it even more pathetic. He tried to fight his new mandatory N'jikam on May 1st but N'jikam backed out and fought Bursak instead on May 4th. Ishida was the replacement that Pirog fought. So i guess if you're the WBO mandatory and back out of your title shot they award you a Interm Title....they're a ***ing disgrace as is Hassan.

This will be a good fight. From what I've heard about Golovkin, he should win this fight.

it has something to do with them not being able to make as much money.

When a boxer has a belt they pay 4 or 5% of their purse to get the org to "sanction" the fight as being for their title. I'v always assumed that if a boxer holds more than one title then the two orgs get a smaller %. With Volodymyr for example having the IBF, WBO, WBA Super, IBO i don't imagine he's paying 16% of his purse, 4% to each org. Does that sound correct?
