Thompson doesn't have much of a chance but he's more capable of making it interesting than pretty much everyone else in the division. He's close to Wlad's size and he's a southpaw. That immediately makes it much better than the Mormeck shambles.

Valuev's retired and both Povetkin and Arreola have just pulled out of awful gimme fights. What makes you think they'd agree to fight Wlad?

You seriously think Povetkin would fight Wlad this year?

Valuev? He hasn't fought in almost three years and I do believe he retired for health reasons. I wasn't even going to waste my time with Pusvetkin. But what the hell. It looks as if Pusvetkin isn't going to fight an elite prime heavyweight in my lifetime, enough said on him.

And in my opinion Arreola is no better then Thompson. And why do I say that? Because Thompson lost to Wlad and then fought four or five stiffs and now is getting another shot. Arreola basically did the same thing. He lost to Vitali and then lost to the only elite fighter he faced since Vitali when he faced the much smaller Adamek.

So, that makes him a notch better then Tony but not by much. Simply because, since then he has fought a lot of bum of the month fights waiting for another title shot. That in my opinion he has done nothing, up to this point, to deserve that shot.

Did people not see their first fight? Yea, Thompson got stopped late but if you watch that fight, he was giving Wlad problems, landed some nice shots and was in Wlad's face for a good portion of the fight. He gave Wlad a lot tougher fight then anyone else since Wlad's reign began. Also, in terms of him fighting sub par competition lately, I don't really see how that's his fault. He's always been avoided. He had a fight signed with Chambers, but Eddie pulled out I believe with an injury. Right now, Thompson beats most of the top ten.

I do hope Wlad will make some meaningful fights after this one. But that's the thing with holding all these titles, mandatory fights.

Yes i'm sure the 50+ HW better than Mormeck weren't available and Mormeck was the best he could get.

His voluntary decisions are usually worse than the mandatory fights.
