Though I dislike the Ortiz quit, the fact is he was winning with out a doubt. He was out boxing Lopez but his ******ity is why he lost; not his skill. Ortiz was giving a great jab and for the most part was out boxing Lopez. But the fact Ortiz was opening his mouth, which lead to his broken jaw, and not the power of Lopez! If you think other wise, you have never boxed!

Ortiz over all a better boxer, obviously not as Mentally as strong but obviously better opponent.

I had Ortiz 5 rounds to 4 up at the time of the stoppage. But Lopez was dominating the last few rounds and the fight was only going one way, broken jaw or not.

Lope was pushing him around, backing him up, making him run, landing that uppercut at will, and hammering him with body shot and sweet left hooks.

Some of the scorecards were a disgrace, I guess some things never change.

Lopez might be mentally tougher, but Ortiz is better, aside from the fact he was winning the fight by a couple rounds. Ortiz can give it and take it, until there is no reason to take it anymore. There was no reason to continue against Lopez when the broken jaw would put off the Canelo fight.

But Floyd would have an easier time against Lopez

Yeah Floyd had a hard night to fend of those hugs and kisses from Victor, he landed a few of those kisses right on Floyd's cheek.

Ortiz lost that night because he's Mentally weak, had a good excuse this time.

Lopez was not gonna knock him out, a decision maybe but a big maybe.

Ortiz is hyped because of his boxing ability but as we seen with Judah if your a head case that don't matter.

              Outboxed by Peterson.

              Maidana beat him up.

Lopez was taking rounds early and dominating Ortiz in the later rounds. Out boxing him, landed the combos and more power punches.

Ortiz is hyped because of his image. His boxing ability is nothing to write home about.

I would disagree. I do believe his jaw was getting screwed up in round 7 after getting caught with his mouth open.
I do agree he was hurting him, because of his own mistake. I have complete respect for Lopez, who realized it and attacked!

Wise of a better opponent Ortiz, wise of heart/will Lopez.

I see it in two diffrent ways. Ortiz is a perfect opponent for Mayweather because of his power/speed/indurance but has flaws footwork/heart/boxing IQ. Ortiz will test you though, and will hurt you.

It was very close fight, both fighters are B or at the best B+ fighters. Remember Lopez had no answer for the Jab at all and was getting hit constantly.

But none of this changes the fact that Lopez is a tougher fight than Ortiz.
Lopez is a tougher fighter than Ortiz. But you have to be out of your mind if you think that means it'd be a tougher fight for Mayweather. Lopez is not explosive, doesn't have the speed or power that Ortiz brings. He's just tougher. That's literally the only advantage he has over Ortiz. Mayweather would Gatti Lopez if they ever fought.

Floyd should not have fought Ortiz.

It seems that the most important factor in boxing is hype and image to get the big fights.

                    Sad state of affairs.
if floyd didnt fight Ortiz you would be on here saying he was ducking a young strong southpaw

No I would have stuck with my line I have used for the past 3 years.

Floyd is ducking the great Manny Pacquiao.

Young, strong, southpaw, mean very little.

I judge fighter on what they do in the ring, not by some buzz words they use to sell a fight.
