And serriously Lopez would have given Floyd a tougher fight on that night than Ortiz and would have still been there at the final bell.
Pacquiao was coming off a May fight. No way in hell would he have been able to fight in September. He fights once every 6 months.

Martinez was already signed to fight Darren Barker in October.

Cotto was still with Top Rank and already had the Margarito fight signed. I think it was originally supposed to take place in the summer/fall but got pushed back to December.

Lara would bring literally nothing to the table. No fans. No belts. NOTHING.

And no way in hell was Golden Boy going to make Alvarez-Mayweather this early in Canelo's career. He was and still is way too inexperienced for Mayweather.

Ortiz was the best option available.

Not me bro, you must be confusing me with someone else.

Always though Bradley would beat Ortiz.

Didn't even break his jaw, even with the sucker punch.

He ****s his hand so far back sometimes you can see his punches a mile away, and leave himself so open.

Victor had good power and speed, can throw some decent combos, but his game is full of flaws. He is OK being the bully but when he is bullied he breaks.
His game is full of flaws. We all know that. He drops his hands way too much and gets tagged too easily. He's a mental midget who doesn't know how to respond to adversity.

But he doesn't have wide punches. He has solid technique, good speed, and great power.

From a business point of view, lots of money for an easy fight, then yeah, good move from Floyd.

From a fans perspective, no there were so many other fights that would have made a better contest before Ortiz.

But as long as the fans are fooled by hype and image this trend will continue.

What fights are those? I've already explained how the only fight that might've been possible was Lara-Mayweather, but Lara was coming off a draw against Molina which many people think he lost. I don't see how that would've been considered a better fight.

Pacquiao, Khan, Ortiz...they've all quit or were concussed at one point during their careers.

Fights get signed months in advance and if Floyd would have went to Martinez or anyone else, those fights get signed.

But none of this changes the fact that Lopez is a tougher fight than Ortiz.
